Since its introduction into early access almost two years ago, Soulmask has attracted over 800,000 players to its massive world, which features extensive tribe and base building and many combat challenges. In that time, it has earned very positive reviews on Steam while working out some of the kinks that come with any early access game throughc continuous updates and over 1,500 additions based on community feedback.
Now, Qooland Games has delivered the 1.0 release of Soulmask, taking it out of early access and expanding and polishing the experience for current and new players alike. And alongside that 1.0 version, Qooland is introducing its huge new Shifting Sands DLC. As a thank-you to the 800,000 players for their support, Qooland Games is making the Egypt DLC free for a limited time upon the 1.0 launch.
A new adventure
While the 1.0 launch and Shifting Sands DLC have plenty to offer gamers who have been playing all through early access, they also come with some bonuses for new players. The 1.0 launch comes with an independent tutorial mode for new players to learn the game's mechanics. This way, you don't have to dive into the deep end and face off against players who already have hundreds of hours under their belts.
The Shifting Sands DLC also takes place in a new game region, putting players on more even footing. And early game pacing has been reworked to help new players get used to the game.
Exploring 1.0
The heart of Soulmask is unchanged. It still gives players a sprawling game world to explore, providing engaging and challenging combat, tribe and base building, and in-depth tribe management.
With 1.0, the game provides extra helpful tools, with an encyclopedia to help you keep track of materials, mechanics, and more. It also offers more in-depth NPC management for your tribe and powerful automation, so you can micromanage each member, leave them on autopilot, or strike a balance in between.
In addition to the classic Survival Mode, 1.0 brings a Tribe Mode that lets you focus more on building up your tribe, managing resources and tasks for your tribe members, and essentially constructing a little society of your own with which to survive the wilderness. There's also a new Warrior Mode for those who enjoy combat more than anything. It lets you worry less about tribe management, survival, and durability, and provides more enemies, creatures, and challenges.
Shifting Sands
With the Shifting Sands DLC, Qooland brings even more. The DLC adds an entirely new map that’s as large as the base game, giving players a huge pile of additional content to explore.
In Shifting Sands, players will take to ancient Egypt to confront the harsh desert, explore the lush Nile, and face new threats.
To help in the adventure, the Shifting Sands DLC introduces flying pyramid airships. These aren’t just small vehicles for easy transportation. Players can make them into grand flying cities, complete with an entire base for their tribe to call home. But in Shifting Sands, even the sky isn’t safe.
There are challenges on the ground and well above it, and you won’t be the only one with an airship. You’ll not only fight enemies in the sky but also run into other players and engage in PvP and PvE airship battles.
The Soulmask 1.0 release and Shifting Sands DLC both arrived today. For players who have the game or get it early after launch, the Shifting Sands DLC will be free to claim from April 10 to May 10. After that, the DLC will return to its regular price of $19.99. If you’re ready to start your survival adventure — whether solo, with friends on a private server, or with many others on up to 70-player servers to pit your tribe against others — you can check out Soulmask on Steam now.
