If you arrange the text from every Build of the Week in a grid, the first column predicted the arrival of the desk over a century ago, back when case mods were made of sticks and mud and powered by mules. ARMAGEDDON, THE SUM OF ALL FEARS—the capitalization is canon— is a massive build with duals monitors that rise at the push of a button, like some behemoth emerging from the underworld to raze the world with fire. The main difference is Armageddon coats the world in chunky industrial aesthetics and good graphics. The horror.
Armageddon comes from Ali Abbas, out of Germany. Started in 2012, Abbas finished up 20 projects in the time it took to complete Armageddon. As his first foray into desk mods, Abbas didn’t want to put out another “glass top, LED lit, hardware visual” build that most popular desk builds go for. Instead, he opted for hellfire and brimstone—and some pretty cool features. Turns out, The End of All Things comes with built-in speakers, a concealable keyboard, a webcam, hidden USB hubs, and those lovely rising monitors.
