A Game of Thrones MMO announced, from the creators of Battlestar Galactica Online

Tom Senior at

The publishers of Battlestar Galactica Online have teamed up with HBO to create a browser-based Game of Thrones MMO. It's built in the Unity Engine by ArtPlant, the same team behind Battlestar Galactica Online's 3D space battles. It's due to tie in with the Game of Thrones TV show, the second series of which is set to kick off in April.

Dark Orbit rakes in $2.6 million selling super-powered Drones

Gavin Townsley at

You want me to toss in a couple bucks for a sweet mount in your F2P MMO? Sure thing. 10 bucks for a huge content pack? No biggie. Over a thousand dollars for one little drone-- wait, what? It may sound crazy to normal folks like you and me, but Bigpoint's Dark Orbit, a browser-based F2P spaceship MMO, recently sold 2,000 of their in-game drones in just four days, priced at 1,000 Euros each! The sales net Bigpoint around two and a half million dollars.

They come in threes: Game of Thrones RPG, MMO, and social game invading Westeros

Rob Zacny at

Remember the opening of A Game of Thrones? That spooky forest, that lone patrol from the Wall, the creeping sense of dread as they approached a camp full of mysteriously dead bandits? I loved it. All I could think was, "This would make a great Facebook game."

OK, we're not just getting a social Game of Thrones, but it is one of three upcoming licensed games for George RR Martin's fantasy series.

Drakensang Online open beta is now live

Tom Senior at

Drakensang is an action RPG that carries the strong, gory whiff of Diablo about it. That's no bad thing, especially considering that Drakensang is free to play, runs from a browser and is remarkably pretty. The open beta is now live, meaning anyone who wants to give the game a shot can sign up now on the Drakensang site (press the huge green PLAY NOW button to get started), and launch the game from a browser of your choosing. Fling fireballs, kill imps, level up, or check out the screenshots below.

Exclusive first look at Battlestar Galactica Online's massive carrier-class ship coming this Fall

Jonathan H. Cooper at

If you're not already in the market for a slick new war machine to take down toasters or meatbags in Battlestar Galactica Online, this should help convince you that you should be. Today, the gods are on the side of those who say that the already-large ships of BSGO aren’t big enough. BigPoint’s upcoming addition, scheduled to release this fall, is an even-bigger hornet's nest crawling with strike craft you can launch at your enemies. My life for the swarm!

Battlestar Galactica Online, and two other sci-fi MMOs you can play in your browser right now

Anthony Valva at

There’s not a huge downside to having games run in your browser nowadays (thanks in no small part to the magic of the Unity engine). Take BSGO for example: it may run in your browser, but it’s a legitimate space sim MMO with great off-the-rails combat in an attractive, 3D environment. I've been playing in the beta, defending the colonies as Captain Santa, Viper pilot. The beta is open at this stage, so you can join the fight to preserve humanity (or you can be a toaster if you’d rather fight for the Cylons) at, but you should know three things before you do.

Battlestar Galactica Online developers Bigpoint have announced that in just six weeks of being live, the browser-based MMO has gathered one million registered players.

The announcement comes as Bigpoint release their latest patch, which allows you to command Battlestars and Basestars, as well as other new ships.

If you'd like to sign up for the Colonial fleet, or cause mass human genocide as a flying toaster, join BSG Online at the game's official site.

Battlestar Galactica Online is going 3D

Matt Purslow at

Bigpoint - the studio behind Battlestar Galactica Online and Ruined Online - have announced that their browser-based MMO's are now available in full stereoscopic 3D. Holy frak!

"With the right hardware, stereoscopic 3D technology will take online browser-game graphics to new heights. Today, Bigpoint is demonstrating once again that conventional PC and console games have nothing on Bigpoint browser games with demonstrations of Battlestar Galactica Online, Toon Racer and Ruined Online in full 3D," the company said in a press release.
