Black Friday PC motherboard deals

If you've been putting off building a new PC, Black Friday weekend is the perfect time to snap up a mobo and get started.

The foundation of every PC is the motherboard. Extra bells and whistles carry a premium, which is why Black Friday is a perfect time to shop for a new mobo. Finding a good deal means building a more feature rich system without increasing the budget. Here are a few that we think are worth consideration. Also be sure to check out our list of the best gaming motherboards and best Z170 motherboards—finding one of those on sale is like striking gold!

Little builds that offer big performance are in. If that's your goal, the ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac is a stellar option in the mini-ITX category. It's packed with features, including onboard Wi-Fi connectivity, is fit for overclocking, and looks rad to boot. You can grab this motherboard for $125 (after $20 MIR) from Newegg, a sweet $60 savings from its MSRP.

Lest anyone accuse us of being biased, we haven't forgotten about AMD. Our pick for the best AM3+ motherboard, the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P, is available at Amazon for $78. That's a tidy savings of $25 that makes an already inexpensive board even more affordable. The BIOS is a bit antiquated on this thing, but it otherwise boasts a solid construction and good overclocking performance.
