Frantic roguelike shooter Terminull Brigade has kicked off Season 0 on Steam and Epic, and plans to put your skills to the test in a set of futuristic, digital worlds as you learn to harness the powers of a cast of complete rebels. The ever-changing environments the Nullverse offers feature different biomes and enemies, all with the intention to bring you down. But you've got one mission in mind: launch the Terminull, and free the Nullverse.

Whether you rush in solo or with a group of friends behind you, there's plenty of mayhem to throw yourself into. Both of the worlds available at launch, Ringed City and Wasteland, are designed to challenge your tactics with fierce enemies designed to stop you.

In true roguelike fashion, no two runs will be the same, with all the skills you'll pick up along the way—it'll keep you on your toes the entire time. But not all will be lost. At the end of each run, you'll be able to collect some serious loot too, which goes into crafting more powerful weapons for the next game.

There are six characters, or Rogueteers as they are referred to, in Season 0 for you to choose from, each offering unique styles and signature moves you will learn to harness while fighting against opposing forces. So, you're bound to find a character that suits your style, whether that's the quirky charm of Gloria or throwing yourself straight into the action with Max. Terminull Brigade gives you the chance to really master your chosen Rogueteer too, and the more you play, the more you'll learn about their individual backstories as well.

Alongside taking down your enemies, you'll also need to work toward unlocking mods which impact your chosen Rogueteer's playstyle and are where the roguelike elements really shine. However, these can't just instantly be applied to your character, and instead, you need to work with your character's 'grid', which is your key to adding mods to your loadout.

Each Rogueteer comes with a different grid shape, and each grid is partially locked, which you will gain access to as you progress through the game. Mods have different shapes too, forcing you to really think about how you can optimise your approach with the foundations your chosen Rogueteer offers. Fortunately, you have ample opportunity to get your hands on additional perks the more you play. If one shape isn't working, completing another session could be the key to unlocking enough of your grid for the ultimate setup.

Mods act similarly and can be unlocked by completing runs, or defeating bosses if you're feeling brave enough to try your hand at getting some higher quality ones. But rest assured, even if you're unhappy with your pull, you can spend resources you've gathered during a session to re-roll and try your luck in getting something better.

They are also your best opportunity to customise your playstyle to make you an utterly unstoppable force alongside the talent tree you'll work your way through with each Rogueteer. You may not have a perfect setup from the get-go, though, so it's worth replaying sessions to either get new mods to trial or unlock more grid spaces so you can take on some more perks. Whether you're met with victory or defeat at the end of a run, you'll still gain a better understanding of how you can grow stronger.

For more updates on Terminull Brigade, including information on future seasons and any Rogueteers that might join the rebellion, it's worth keeping an eye on the official X account and joining the Discord server. Otherwise, it's time for you and your friends to join the rebellion in an attempt to help free the Nullverse from the shadow algorithms plaguing the virtual realm.
