A new alien-shooting sci-fi FPS just blasted its way into our world with a new trailer, as shown at Gamescom in Germany today. Alien Rage will feature action-packed shooting of “relentless enemies” with “badass weapons.”
Ghost Warrior 2 has all the hallmarks of a generic modern military FPS: linear corridors filled with thick enemies, strategically placed explosive barrels, one-dimensional characters who spout military jargon, and things exploding. But the difference here is that you’re sneaking rather than blasting your way through these tunnels of scripted war nonsense. It’s a feature-length stealth
"There are soldiers," proclaims the absurd launch trailer for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, "and then there are snipers." A slogan illustrated by a man heroically shooting at a helicopter pilot from a safe distance. Like its predecessor, Ghost Warrior 2 takes place in a series of extreme environments: in this case a jungle, a Tibetan mountain range and (er) Sarajevo, which by the looks of it appear to
You'll learn two things about Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 from this teaser trailer. The first, rather obviously, is that it includes sniping. The second is that it also has plenty of gratuitous armpit stabbings. That one's also kind of obvious, since it's now mandated by law that all gritty, "realistic" war games must include at least one instance of unnecessarily detailed knife crime.
Not to be confused with Sniper Elite V2, or Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is a military shooter about shunting slugs of lead into distant foes' frontal lobes. Watch as CryEngine 3 spoons dollops of visual fanciness into the above
I love sniping in games. It can be a lot of crawling around in dirt and peering through foliage that was never meant to be viewed up close, but the payoff is worth the effort. It feels great to watch a bullet perfectly arc into a target, and intuiting that path taps into bits of instinctual spatial intelligence which always surprises me. Basing an entire FPS campaign around that feeling, however,
Man, CryEngine 3 is really good at rendering jungles. We recently got a look at Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, and we'll have our impressions of the game up later this week. Until then, check out that sexy foliage in the new trailer.

City Interactive will bring their CryEngine 3 powered sniper sim to PC next March. It'll hit Europe on March 16, and the US on March 20. The in-game footage above is taken from Sniper's Gamescom showing, and feels a lot like Call of Duty 4's Chernobyl level, in
