Ben Griffin at

Ben Griffin knows his Dark Souls 2. His veins don’t so much course with blood as Rouge Water, and his skeleton consists entirely of Homeward Bones. He sees the world through Cracked Red Eye Orbs. He feels it in his Soul Vessel and he processes it in his Petrified Lump. Who better in all of Drangleic, then, to guide you through its perilous first ten hours? If you want fewer reminders that ‘YOU DIED’, read on for 14 tips, tricks and secrets worth their weight in Gold Pine Resin.

The Elder Scrolls Online is currently live for those who preordered, and what better way to celebrate than with ridiculous screenshots from the Large Pixel Collider? We took a trip through Tamriel that spanned three 1440p monitors, using the LPC's four Nvidia GTX Titans to take some gorgeous panorama shots from the game. Here are some of our favorites.

Every Monday, keen screen-grabber Ben Griffin brings you a sumptuous 4K resolution gallery to celebrate PC gaming's prettiest places.

Few would deny that Bioshock Infinite's floating city of Columbia is a gorgeous place to shoot spliced-up weirdos. The first sight of Columbia's main square is impossible to forget. It's a blaze of glorious colour, enriched with hundreds of incidental details, all contributing a little to the story behind Infinite's hovering dystopia. There are many more moments to match it, so we've captured a few here in glorious 4k resolution to celebrate Infinite's terrific art design. Enjoy.

Dragon Age: Inquisition screenshots show monsters, magic and a bald elf

The Dragon Age series has never romanticised its Elven population. Rather than the proud, immortal, luscious locked demi-gods of Tolkienesque fantasy, the pointy-eared citizens of Thedas are downtrodden, impoverished and - as seen in these new Dragon Age: Inquisition screenshots, published by All Games Beta - occasionally as bald as a coot. Even follically challenged, they can be capable of chucking a few fireballs. Well, it is still a fantasy game.

Tropico 5 screenshots show the political circus, also the actual circus

Much like its predecessors, Tropico 5 is a good looking game. Its sumptuous, characterful depiction of island life is almost in direct contrast to the murky dealings of its corrupt and devious president. That'd be you, you wrong'un. At least while you engage in the shady business of domestic surveillance, international double-dealing, and economic embezzlement, you'll have some bright, sunny scenery to marvel at.

Titanfall in motion: gifs from the final version

Titanfall is one of those games that looks better in motion. Its attractiveness is owed to animation more than texture resolution or lighting. Here are a selection of moments from my time with the review version of the game that show off why this is one of the most exciting new shooters in years.

Welcome to the 4K screenshot showcase, in which resident screen-grabbing enthusiast Ben Griffin presents a series of images at lovely, almost prohibitively massive 4k resolutions. Whether you're after a new desktop background, or just want to see some luscious images of the PC's best looking games, you'll find what you're looking for within. This week, Ben tunnels into the strange and beautiful labyrinths of Metro: Last Light.

Titanfall leaked screenshots show maps, monsters and "Generations" mode

"I have a reliable source with information on Titanfall." That's according to Reddit user FallenFusion, who has supplied a series of supposedly leaked images showing new aspects of the upcoming shooter. Through them we see a collection of nine or the game's fifteen or so maps, a shot of a ziplining pilot player, and a intriguing tease of a mysterious monster - previously hinted at through the game's art book.

The Titanfall beta is live (read and watch our impressions), and what better PC to run it on than our own Large Pixel Collider, with its four GeForce GTX Titans? We actually only powered up two of the Titans for this battle (a long story involving watt meters and circuit breakers), but that didn't stop us from spanning three 1440p monitors for a total resolution of 7680x1440.

The Forest screenshots set the tone ahead of upcoming early access release

Here's a new set of screenshots for the promising looking exploration horror game, The Forest. Yes, you may need to squint a bit, because they're pretty dark. That's a consequence of the eerie survival atmosphere that the game hopes to evoke. Luckily, as you can see from the previous trailer, that static darkness becomes a claustrophobic and eerie space when seen in motion.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance first-look: "Dungeons and no dragons" in Warhorse's open-world RPG

Under its leafy canopy, the wooded clearing has an earthy glow and a still, oppressive quiet. It’s a scene fit for motivational posters and pre-packaged Windows wallpapers, and it would be picturesque if it wasn’t for the dirty, angry man with the broadsword. He stands up, hefts the weapon, and charges straight at me, looking for blood. My sword is already out, and my steel rises to meet his.

Running Battlefield 4 at 1440p is impressive, but the Large Pixel Collider doesn't merely seek to impress. It seeks to destroy all humans (maybe, we don't know what it's thinking about) and destroy all things less than miraculous. With a gurgle from its coolant tank, it commanded us to instead span three 2560x1440 displays and submerse our eyeballs in a gallon of 7680x1440 levelution.

Total War: Rome 2 gets a blood and gore pack, to make up for the lack of blood and gore

Creative Assembly were clearly worried that Total War: Rome 2's battles were too mild-mannered and sedate. And so, as with Shogun 2 before it, they've released the "Blood & Gore" DLC pack, which amps up the violence to its most absurd setting. Whether its worth the £2/$3 for what is essentially a superfluous graphics tweak is something you'll need to decide for yourself. All I know is that the screenshots which released alongside it are ridiculously, hilariously over-the-top.

Blood Bowl 2 screenshots introduce humanity's Reikland Reavers

There is only war. Except, sometimes there's sport. But when it comes to Games Workshop's single-minded Warhammer franchise, even that is basically just war. Cyanide Studios are working on a follow up to Blood Bowl, their turn-based fantasy football game. Now they've released the first screenshots Blood Bowl 2, confirming that it will take place in a rudimentary bowl and that, if the number of spikes on that ball are anything to go by, there will soon be blood.

Arma 3 screenshots show scenes from the first campaign DLC, out October 31st

I bet Bohemia are feeling really embarrassed right now. In all the excitement of ArmA III's official launch last month, they completely forgot to add in its singleplayer campaign. Weirdly, they'd planned for this forgetfulness, announcing beforehand that the campaign would follow as three free DLC chunks to be released over the coming months. Incredible foresight, that.

The first of these chunks will be called 'Survive', and it's due to be released on October 31st.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter first screenshots: woodlands and goat skulls

Announced back in February, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter has resurfaced with some foreboding first screenshots. The game, made by a cabal of former People Can Fly devs, promises a mixture of weird horror and macabre fiction. There's certainly a worrying isolation to the woodland mountains, and I can't think of any situation in which goat skulls would be used as a cheerful invitation.

Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior, the expansion for Torn Banner's medieval deathmatch game based on Spike TV's historical "What if?" show, has opened the gates to reveal all of the warriors who will be entering the bloody fray. Joining the Spartan and Samurai we got to see at PAX, you'll also be able to play as a viking, a pirate, a ninja, or a knight—the last of which is a sort of amalgam of the three classes from the original Chivalry.

Tropico 5 screenshots show island life through the eras

I know. I know. City builders aren't renowned for their CPU-straining graphics. Perhaps unfairly. While the Tropico series didn't dazzle you with its depictions of dictatorial splendour, they had a warm and vibrant beauty to their tenements, shanty towns and decadent tourist traps. And these first 'pre-alpha' screenshots of Tropico 5 show the series' first major upgrade since El Presidente's third outing.

X Rebirth screenshots show the colourful side of space

You know what's cool? Space. You know what's even cooler? Space majesty: the distinctly unreal and colourful glow that emanates from fake video game space. When our distant descendants venture out into the galaxies, they're going to be pretty put out that the reality is dark, drab and colourless. Still, at least they'll have games like X Rebirth to look back on. As these screenshots can attest, fighting/trading/exploring your way through the galaxy is going to be a very pretty experience.
