You'd think that with the success of Borderlands 2, Gearbox would already be hard at work on Borderlands 3, but that isn't the case. "I'm not going to fuck around with you like Valve does with Half-Life 3," Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford told Polygon. "We know we want it and we know it should exist, but we don't know what it is yet."
It's going to be hard to say goodbye, but 2K has announced that Sir Hammerlock Versus the son of Crawmerax will be the last piece of DLC for Borderlands 2. Set to release via Steam on April 15, this fifth Headhunter pack will sell for $3.
In August 2012, we first heard rumors that Mafia 3 was being developed at 2K Czech for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Today, we have mixed news about the studio and the future of the Mafia games. A 2K representative has confirmed to us that the company is consolidating 2K Czech’s office in Prague, with some developers offered new positions in 2K’s Brno office (also in the Czech Republic), some at 2K’s headquarters in Novato, California, and some laid off. We’re also hearing unconfirmed reports that 2K is restarting development on Mafia 3 at 2K San Francisco.
The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler. That is certainly some title, and I hope the second in Borderlands 2's Headhunter DLC series lives up to it. The head you're hunting this time is that of the Wattle Gobbler, who as you may have guessed...is a giant Thanksgiving turkey. It's the second seasonally appropriate boss arena after Halloween's TK Baha's Bloody Harvest - leaving Santa or possibly a really angry Dreidel as likely candidates for How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day, the game's next mini DLC. New boss fight/arena aside, Wattle Gobbler will also introduce you to Mr. Torgue's Grandma Flexington, who Gearbox are referring to as "super buff". As you can see in the screenshot below...they're kinda right.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown has just received a collection of Achievements Unknown. Thirty of them have been added to the game's Steam Global Achievement Page, all showing placeholder names and text. It's another hint that new XCOM content could be on the way, after, last week, a Korean listing appeared for something called "XCOM: Enemy Within".
The Bureau is a game about an alien invasion, and not a sort of chest of drawers, so it makes sense that this fresh load of gameplay footage would focus on killing aliens and ordering teammates about, rather than storing stuff in a convenient yet pricey piece of furniture. Borderlands 2 received a big DLC info-dump at PAX East this weekend. First up, the game's sixth playable character has been introduced. His name is Krieg the Psycho, and he seems nice. Primarily a melee class, Krieg's skill-trees are Bloodlust (combat buffs), Hellborn (fire-based elemental attacks), and Mania (er, being manic?)

Irrational have just announced the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass, a three-pack DLC pre-order bundle that will be made available at the game's launch on March 26. I guess inherent in that reveal is also the news that Bioshock Infinite will be getting at least three additional bits of DLC content.
Roughly two million* Bioshock Infinite trailers have been released so far, detailing everything from the majesty of floating cities, to eerie alternate-history reporting, to questionable pre-order bonuses, to spoilerful opening cinematics. The latest, titled Lamb of God, teases the role of Elizabeth, Booker's reason for being on Columbia in the first place.
The Borderlands 2 character Tiny Tina came under fire last night, as a Twitter discussion between the game's lead writer, Anthony Burch, and some of the game's players raised the question of whether her characterisation was racist. In the game, Tina - an explosives expert, and child - speaks using African American lingo, in a way that one Twitter user compared to "verbal blackface".
Here's a rather splendid new trailer for Bioshock Infinite; one that packs together grand vistas of the soaring city of Columbia, insight into its fire-and-brimstone ruler Zachary Comstock, and plenty of explosive combat against men and monstrosities. It's also likely to be the only trailer you'll see today that features a minigun-toting mechanical George Washington.
We recently made the case that trailers should stop mucking about with thematically tenuous CGI trailers and just show us the damn game. I'm now going to undo all of that work by praising this, a Bioshock Infinite trailer that contains no game footage whatsoever. I do this because, 1) I'd really rather not see any more of the game before it's released, and 2) it's pretty marvellous in its own right, exploring the city of Columbia through the medium of an 70s educational documentary. It's like Look Around You for alternate history.
This week has seen the release of several pre-rendered cinematic trailers. Exciting though theywere, brows were raised, then furrowed, then frowned in the PCG office as we noted how precious little these dramatic scenes reflected the actual action of the game.
It need not be so. Even fully pre-rendered trailers can do a better job of encapsulating the games they promote - and probably do a better job of selling them too. We cast our minds back to our favourite trailers of yore, and picked out the five that we felt best captured the games within, while offering visuals that are every bit as thrilling, powerful and cool.
Irrational have announced the pre-order bonuses that eager Bioshock Infinite fans will receive on pre-ordering the game. The Industrial Revolution pack contains a selection of character buffs, extra cash and five lockpicks. As you may know, the industrial revolution was the thieviest of time periods. A trailer runs through the content, as well as provides more glimpses of the game's frenetic combat.

"Danger! Excitement! Mustaches!" That's what's being rumoured for an upcoming Borderlands 2 DLC pack Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt. Reddit user and suspected infidel 'MikeTheInfidel' - who previously unearthed details of the now released Campaign of Carnage DLC - has gone digging through PS3 update files to uncover info of a new adventure with the oddball hunter.
Proving that people can get worked up about anything, the reveal of Bioshock Infinite's box art sparked apoplectic rage among fans. Speaking to Wired, Bioshock Infinite's creative director Ken Levine admitted he knew the cover would prove unpopular with gaming enthusiasts. "I understand that some of the fans are disappointed. We expected it. I know that may be hard to hear, but let me explain the thinking."
You already know what we loved and didn't love about BioShock Infinite from our recent hands-on, but thanks to the wonders of moving images you can now see some of that with your own eyes. New footage was revealed at last night's VGA awards, showing a whole heap of stuff including (but not limited to) your first meeting with Elizabeth, and lots and lots of crow-flinging action. We sent two intrepid reporters to get the lowdown on Irrational's follow-up to BioShock, this time set aboard Columbia, a floating city inspired by ideas of American exceptionalism circa 1900. Both Tom F and Evan got to sit down and play the game for several hours, and then caught up with Levine for a lengthy chat afterwards - more of which you will be able to read in the January edition of the magazine. But we couldn't resist teasing you with Levine's comments to Tom about how the team reacted to criticism of BioShock's ending - specifically, how that game failed to evolve following its twist.
