Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release in 2015, Hideo Kojima has confirmed at Tokyo Games Show. No release window was indicated, though it's fair to guess we'll see it during the usual October / November rush. More exciting is the release of some new gameplay footage, along with a short trailer.
Well I suppose you could drape the Metal Gear Collection 2014 over your rig, but if you were holding out hope for a software announcement during Hideo Kojima’s Tokyo Games Show appearance today then you’re out of luck. The Metal Gear Collection 2014 is not a retrospective collection of every Metal Gear game released, but instead a fancy new fashion line.

Original: Here's a tasty titbit from Kojima, master of teases. A few hours ago he tweeted a picture of a screen displaying the words "Metal Gear Collection 2014," stating, "reading the script for TGS stage show." That is, so far, all we know—but by gosh, I am going to speculate over those four words. For instance, could a new MGS collection signal the appearance of the series' back catalogue onto PC? I think it might.

Last week Konami revealed a new Silent Hill game. After a succession of underwhelming sequels that spectacularly failed to capture the dark, subversive magic of the originals, you’d be forgiven for shrugging this news off. But this new Silent Hill is being developed by Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series, in collaboration with Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro. Konami, it seems, are finally giving their flagship horror series the love it deserves.
Now that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been confirmed for PC, we can indulge in gameplay footage knowing one day we'll walk in Snake's weary footsteps. I love Hideo Kojima. He understands games, and the way people play them, more than any other developer. He’s often accused of being a frustrated filmmaker using the medium to live out his directing fantasies, but only by people who haven’t played his games. His long, indulgent cutscenes are notorious, yes, but they’re only a small part of the whole, wonderful Kojima experience. He’s a game designer first and foremost, and his unique brand of magic and madness belongs on PC.
Hideo Kojima, taker of excellent self-promotional images and overlord of all things Metal Gear Solid, has once again reiterated his desire to see the fifth full game in the MGS series appear on PC. Speaking about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain with Gamepsot in Japan he said: "PC, that's my original background. I originally created PC games. A long time ago I didn't want to rely on platforms to release games, so if people want it, I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is definitely something that I would like to do."
Even as a new generation of gaming consoles forces developers to stretch the meaning of multi-platform, it seems that the PC is still an afterthought for some of the most celebrated series in the industry. In a new E3 interview with Gametrailers, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima addressed the possible release of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PC.
Hideo Kojima has revealed that Konami will be bringing Platinum's emo-cyborg starring, ridiculous subtitle containing, third-person action slasher Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to PCs. He made the announcement on the Hideradio podcast. At least, I'm told he did. Not speaking Japanese, it's hard to be sure. Luckily, English confirmation soon followed from Platinum creative producer JP Kellams.

Resisting a sudden urge to walk very slowly around the room looking for intruders, I headed straight here to post news that a new Metal Gear Solid game is in the works, and it'll be coming to PC.
A Konami GDC job ad, spotted by Joystiq, mentions that Kojima Productions are looking for "project engineers for the latest Metal Gear Solid targeted for high-end consoles and PC." The ad is also looking for engineers capable of developing "network gameplay functionality for online games," which obviously implies a multiplayer component. Beyond that, there are few details, but if it's anything like every other MGS game, it will be quite wonderfully mad.
Hideo Kojima’s much loved Metal Gear Solid series rarely appears on the PC, but there’s a chance that his new project might get an airing on our beloved black boxes. Dubbed “Project Ogre”, very little is known about the game, other than it’s going to be an open-world adventure. As reported on 1UP, Kojima told CNN that the new game will have, “A very wide entrance, a very open entrance,"
It will also be a step away from the blockbuster approach of the Metal Gear Solid, in favour of Skyrim-style exploration - albeit with a modern day setting, according to the screenshots. "Rather than making something very cinematic, [I plan to] make something very free," Kojima said.
The game is thought to run in Kojima’s Fox engine, which 1UP reported on back in June. It’s said to be multiplatform, and compatible with a PS3 controller, an Xbox controller, and - crucially - a mouse. Of course, the mouse could just be standing in for the Wii U’s weird new controller, but it’s more than likely that the game will arrive on the PC.
1UP also posted an image from Kojima’s Twitter that showed a Fox engine render of one of the game’s programmers, allegedly put together in about an hour. Apparently it's also capable of translucent clothing and realistic dust particles. It seems like an impressive engine, with the screenshots recalling Far Cry 2’s lush tropics. But we’re not sure if Kojima will be able to let go of his more constrained, linear roots in console gaming.
