Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons is a bit of a departure for Starbreeze. Best known for the stabby Riddick games and, more recently, the shooty Syndicate reboot, they've recently switched off the 'For Hire' sign and focused on making games for themselves. Rather intriguing games, too, if Brothers is anything to go by. It's a collaboration with Swedish-Lebanese film-maker Josef Fares: a mechanically novel and decidedly stabbing-free fable in which you control two brothers simultaneously as they venture into the wild to find medicine for their dying father. It's a thoughtful piece of work, both in terms of how the asymmetry of the siblings abilities is used to navigate obstacles, and in the way their interactions elegantly sketch their characters.

A gorgeous world, bursting with personality. Great storytelling makes up for the short length and unchallenging puzzles.
