The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt revealed - an open world RPG bigger than Skyrim

We've been expecting a Witcher 3 announcement ever since a hidden message in the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer teased a "fully open-world game with an intense story." Tom Senior even threatened to eat his headset if it didn't turn out to be another outing for Geralt and friends.

Turns out the headset's safe. Game Informer have just posted details about their upcoming cover for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. And from the preview details they've released, it seems to be a very ambitious sequel.

Thanks to CD Projekt RED's new REDengine 3 technology, The Witcher 3 will be a massive open-world RPG that's 30 times bigger than the previous game - a world size claimed to be bigger than Skyrim. Filling that world will be the detective work and deadly combat of "monster hunting" and the series' now standard twisting stories of intrigue and politics.

The Witcher 3 is due out in 2014 for "all high-end platforms available," including PC.
