Hatoful Boyfriend, the game of pigeon love, delayed until September

Andy Chalk at

The sad pigeon-wings of destiny have swooped down on Hatoful Boyfriend, the game of love between birds and the one human who dares go to school among them. It was originally supposed to be out this month, but publisher Devolver Digital revealed today that the egg needs a little more time in the nest.

Wasteland 2 release date is finally revealed

Andy Chalk at

Wasteland 2 is coming! You already knew that, yes. But do you know exactly when it is coming? No, you do not! For that, you must read onward.

Analyst says digital sales made up 92 percent of PC game market in 2013

Andy Chalk at

It might be time to reconsider the idea that digital distribution is the future. According to analyst firm DFC Intelligence, it actually stopped being the future quite some time ago, as nearly all PC game purchases made in 2013 were done digitally.

Andy Chalk at

Humble Jumbo Bundle 2—say it fast ten times, then go check out the latest pay-what-you-want bundle that includes up to seven games with a serious strategy bent and supports two very worthy charities. (And you don't actually have to say "Humble Jumbo Bundle 2" ten times first.)

Deus Ex with New Vision mod video: max settings at 2560x1440 on LPC

PC Gamer at

Augmentations activated. We took a break from playing today's most graphically demanding games on the Large Pixel Collider to run one of our favorites: the original Deus Ex. This isn't Deus Ex as it looked in 2000, though—this is Deus Ex running at 1440p, running the latest version of the New Vision mod. It's a complete retexturing of Deus Ex, designed for today's high resolutions. If you want to run Deus Ex like this yourself, check out Pixel Boost.

Activision will make Sierra its "indie" label

Andy Chalk at

Activision announced the resurrection of the storied Sierra label last week, bringing it back into action with a new Geometry Wars and a reboot of the old King's Quest series. It was an unexpected move, given the publisher's historic focus on the bottom line and the tiny impact on it that old Sierra adventures are likely to have, but not entirely unpredictable in hindsight. After all, there's gold in them there indie hills.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt video offers 35 minutes of methodical witching

Phil Savage at

CD Projekt RED has released a video filled with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt footage. The last time this happened, it lasted for six minutes. This time, it's a full thirty-five. Maybe you want to potentially spoil a whole half-hour of an upcoming RPG; maybe you don't. I'm not here to judge. I'm just here to place down this embed and slowly back away.

Now Playing Live returns! Don't miss our Elite: Dangerous stream event tomorrow

Chris Thursten at

We've been hunted across Chernarus. We've tangled with a vengeful god of (modern) warfare. Tomorrow, we scramble for glory in the cold reaches of space.

The latest PC Gamer UK team livestream will take place on Wednesday the 20th of August from 3PM BST to 5PM BST—click that link to find out the time in other timezones. We'll be playing Elite Dangerous in a custom scenario that we've come up with ourselves, supported by the devs at Frontier.

Gang Beasts to be published by Double Fine, will release on Steam Early Access next week

Phil Savage at

Previously, we've given the local multiplayer physics-brawler Gang Beasts only a small smattering of mentions. Let's fix that now, with an entire news post about how the game will receive publishing support from Double Fine, through the Broken Age developer's Double Fine Presents scheme. Even better, the game will launch to Steam Early Access on 29 August.

Skyrim mod Skywind gets length exploration-focused video

Phil Savage at

Skywind feels like such a fragile prospect. It's an ambitious idea: recreating Morrowind in Skyrim's newer engine. As with all formidable total conversions, it's hard to shake the fear that it will ultimately never happen.

Maybe this 13 minute stream VOD can help quell that fear. In it, we get to see thirteen minutes of a character just wandering about the world. It makes the whole thing feel more tangible; more real.

Super Time Force Ultra comes to Steam next week, will (probably) feature TF2 characters

Phil Savage at

Okay, congratulations indie games, you did it again. For a while I thought Capy's Super Time Force wouldn't make it to PC, which—given the reviews of its Xbone version—would have been a shame. Naturally, I was worrying over nothing. Not only will the 2D action time-travel-'em-up release on Steam on 25 August, but it'll arrive in a special Ultra edition.

Pillars of Eternity "backer beta" now available, won't spoil the final game

Phil Savage at

The game once called Project Eternity isn't taking an eternity to make. This is good news, because—as a Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale fan—I'm practically salivating at the prospect of playing Obsidian's upcoming RPG. For those who backed Pillars of Eternity at the $110 level, or who purchased the relevant add-on package, that prospect is now a reality. Congratulations, those people, I am suitably jealous.

Exoskeleton will be optional in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare multiplayer

Shaun Prescott at

One of the most striking additions to this year's Call of Duty is the introduction of the exoskeleton suit. The suit allows higher jumping with no fall damage, increased melee attacks and cloaking, among other things. Of course, this will radically affect the way multiplayer matches play out, which is risky business for a game as multiplayer reliant as Call of Duty.

Diablo II can be revisited in Minecraft, finally

Shaun Prescott at

In Minecraft it's never a matter of 'if' but 'when'. One day every conceivable location will be recorded in-game, but you can strike Diablo II off the list because someone has finally applied themselves to the task. No doubt there were whole online communities out there baying for this.

The Evil Within gameplay video offers an hour long descent into hell

Shaun Prescott at

In the above video you can watch Bethesda Vice President of PR and Marketing Pete Hines play The Evil Within for an hour. The footage is taken from chapter nine of the Shinji Mikami-helmed survival horror game, and appears to be set in some form of creepy mansion populated by grizzled, aggressive sub-humans.

TUG review (Early Access)

Emanuel Maiberg at

Alpha and Early Access reviews offer our preliminary verdicts on in-development games. We may follow up this unscored review with a final, scored review in the future. Read our full review policy for details.

The TUG described in its Kickstarter pitch video is a slight deviation from Minecraft's formula of crafting and surviving in a procedurally generated world. It promises future RPG elements and uses malleable voxels that make for rolling hills and round caves instead of Minecraft's fixed-size boxes. But there's a huge gap between what TUG wants to be and the terrible game you can currently buy on Steam Early Access for $10/£7.

Super Meat Boy studio teases A Voyeur For September

Andy Chalk at

Team Meat, the two-man studio behind the indie hit Super Meat Boy, is apparently working on something entirely new called A Voyeur For September. You can ask me what it is, but I will tell you only this: It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside a trailer.

Enemy Starfighter takes a rocket-jockey ride to PAX Prime in new trailer

Andy Chalk at

Back when I was playing (and loving) Homeworld, I would occasionally zoom in to the faux-cockpit view of a fighter and enjoy the scenery as it slashed through convoys of capital ships. It was an exciting perspective, even though the ships weren't directly controllable, which is why I'm so very much looking forward to Enemy Starfighter. As the newest trailer shows, it's the same kind of visual vibe, but now you actually get to fly.

The best highlights from CS:GO's ESL One Cologne 2014 tournament

Evan Lahti at

The ESL One Cologne 2014 CS:GO championship went down as the most-watched Counter-Strike event in history, with over 400,000 combined viewers watching live in-game or through the ESL stream over the weekend. There were plenty of memorable frags, clutches, and comebacks during the 16-team, four-day event, the best of which I’ve collected here.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor includes "exclusive" Orc Warband mission

Andy Chalk at

Like many triple-A games these days, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will offer fans a "season pass," providing access to a future DLC releases at a discounted price. Among the coming content is a mission that will let players step into the ghostly boots of Cerebrimbor and an "exclusive" face-off against Sauron's best troops.
