StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm trailer has first in-game footage

Blizzard have released a follow up to yesterday's Heart of the Swarm teaser trailer, showing the first few clips of actual in-game footage. We get to see some of the upgrade screens for the Zerg units, and more Banelings than I've ever seen in one place. StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void could have less units than Heart of the Swarm

Blizzard have told us that they would consider removing units for StarCraft 2's second expansion, Legacy of the Void. Speaking at a recent press event, StarCraft 2 lead producer Chris Sigaty told us that "it would be a mistake for us to just put out units to put out units," adding "will we do that again for Legacy of the Void? I don’t know. It may be that putting out new units for Legacy of the Void is a mistake."


Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm teaser trailer starts the hunt for Kerrigan

[bcvideo id="968114278001"]Blizzard have released the first teaser trailer for Heart of the Swarm, showing Terran forces hunting down Sarah Kerrigan. Kerrigan will feature as a playable hero in almost all of Heart of the Swarm's single player missions, and will be able to switch between four different forms to gain access to different ability sets. First round of BlizzCon tickets sell out fast

The first wave of ticket sales for this year's BlizzCon sold out in minutes on Saturday. Blizzard fans hoping to snag a ticket found themselves competing with digital queues ofup to 14,000 people. If you missed the first round of sales, don't worry, there's another one happening this Wednesday at 7PM PST/ 10PM EST and 3AM for Brits.

A standard pass for the event will set you back $175, but if you can't make it all the way to the Anaheim Convention Centre, there will also online passes available that give you access to official live streams of the main Blizzcon events. Full ticket details can be found on the BlizzCon site.


StarCraft 2 1.3 patch: Infestors slowed, Archons now "a massive unit"

Patch notes for the latest StarCraft 2 patch have appeared on Battle.Net, detailing all the latest StarCraft 2 balance adjustments and bug fixes. Archons get a range increase and are now "a massive unit," Zerg Infestors are slower, Protoss Pylon power radius is down and, most importantly of all, the Taiwanese hotkey to display/hide the game UI while in Observer mode now works correctly. StarCraft 1.2 patch is now live

A gigantic StarCraft 2 patch has arrived, adding chat channels to Battlenet and applying a ton of bug fixes and balance changes to the game. The StarCraft 2 editor has also received a lot of attention with new tips and hints and a suite of new tools. The patch also adds a Master League for the very best StarCraft 2 players in the world.


StarCraft 2 fan creates Protoss build order program

Recently a programmer called Lomilar created EvolutionChamber, a computer program designed to come up with optimal build orders for the Zerg race in StarCraft 2. One of the first strategies the program produced was a deadly seven Roach rush that had players on the Starcraft 2 forums scrambling to invent a counter. Now a different AI coder has taken Lomilar's program, and rewritten it to work for the Protoss race.
