Evan, Wes, and Cory introduce new intern Tom Marks to the podcast, and discuss today's big game announcements: Gearbox's "hero shooter" Battleborn and Cliff Bleszinski's F2P shooter BlueStreak. The team talks about Blizzard's release strategy for Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramas, and then talk about the games they played over the holiday break.
Evan and Wes are back from E3, joining Tyler and Cory to discuss the best games they saw. The list goes Far Cry 4, No Man's Sky, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, Dragon Age Inquisition, Assassin's Creed Unity, Evolve, Batman: Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Oculus Rift DK2, and a game designed just for Evan, Rainbow Six Siege. Read up on all of them in our Best of E3 Awards.
It's been a while, hasn't it? Evan, Tyler, Cory, and Wes finally return to the podcast studio to discuss the many games they've been playing since our last episode: Watch Dogs, Transistor, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, Hearthstone, and more. Plus, we've all played Turtle Rock's upcoming asymmetrical shooter, Evolve, and have a lot to say about it—read Evan's most recent hands-on impressions, too.
In this week's special GDC 2014 episode, we recorded from Tyler's kitchen in downtown San Francisco with two groups of game developer guests who hiked over from GDC. First up, hear from Xaviant design director Tim Lindsey, whose resume also includes CCP, Bethesda, and Hi-Rez; Twinbeard Studios founder and Frog Fractions creator Jim Crawford; and Mode 7 Games' Ian Hardingham, who designed and programmed Frozen Synapse and is now working on Frozen Endzone.
In this week's episode, Evan and Tyler discuss their criticisms of Titanfall and their mutual love of hanging out on Titan heads, Wes gives a report on his time in Heroes of the Storm, Grey Goo consumes the room with RTS discussion, and the crew looks into a crystal ball to determine what games they'll be talking about five years into the future.
In this week's episode, Tyler takes the helm while Evan is in Canada and the crew poorly segues between news topics including Watch Dogs, Dark Souls 2, DirectX 12, Batman: Arkham Knight, and the latest Diablo 3 patch. Wes talks about The Walking Dead, Cory is playing Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall, and Tyler talks about The Yawhg and says some really offensive things while quoting South Park: The Stick of Truth. It turns out Cory hates poop jokes.
In this week's episode, we talk all about Thief (read our review!), Wolfenstein: The New Order (read our preview!), lockpicking minigames, Broken Age, the Oculus Rift, and "focus" modes. Plus, we give our take on the end of Irrational (read our farewell) and use the word "intrinsic" a whole bunch.
Hold 'F' to slow down time and listen to PC Gamer Podcast #373 - Hocus Focus Mode.
We talk about the Titanfall beta—jetpacks, mechs, magic guns, and all—while Wes sits in the corner for being the only one who hasn't played it. Then Evan fills us in on his experience playing Evolve, the new asymmetrical shooter from the Left 4 Dead developers, and Wes emerges to guide us into a world of pure imagination in the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod.
Evan surprises the group with a game of tabletop Counter-Strike—can the crack team of podcasting terrorists successfully plant the bomb, or will they all roll 1s and throw their guns at the other team? The shocking conclusion to Table Offensive is followed up with some critical talk about two giant MMOs, starting with The Elder Scrolls Online, which Cory and Evan spent the weekend with, followed by EverQuest Next Landmark, which is Tyler's first MMO obsession since the original EverQuest, despite being nothing like it. Later, Wes gives us his take on The Wolf Among Us Episode Two and the group discusses episodic storytelling games, and everyone wants to play Jazzpunk.
Double Fine frontpersons Tim Schafer and Greg Rice join us as special guests this week to talk Broken Age, their latest game, Kickstarter, the adventure game genre, and reflect a little on their experience Steam Machines and the Steam Controller, which they've been using recently.
