When we last saw Mega Man designer Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9, it had launched a Kickstarter campaign and been fully funded before we could write the words down. In the last 31 days, the crowdfunding campaign continued its breakneck pace until it just passed the $4 million mark. Mighty No. 9 has met all of its stretch goals and is now in production for an estimated April 2015 release.

Mega Man Mighty No. 9 this last weekend, and already the project has raised over $1.25 million, smashing the $900,000 target. To play catch up: Mega Man Mighty No. 9 is a 2D side-scrolling action platformer featuring a little robot guy whose body can reconfigure to take on new skills and abilities, and who must destroy other, evil boss robots.
In celebration of Mega Man's 25th anniversary, Capcom announced today that it will release a new fan-made Mega Man game exclusively as a free PC download on December 17th. Street Fighter X Mega Man, revealed at the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Grand Finals, is an 8-bit styled crossover which bridges the anniversary celebrations of the two franchises.
