Door Kickers hits beta, adds levelling system, improved waypointing, challenges

It's been around a year since we last checked in on Door Kickers, and in that time KillHouse Games' top-down SWAT-like seems to have come on leaps and bounds. It's just reached beta status, words which here mean 'has added a levelling system for your troops, improved waypointing, a challenge system that rewards with XP, oh and this huge list of other stuff'. If you've bought into the game already you've likely received an email by now informing you of the update; for everyone else, the following trailer will clue you in on what you're missing.

Top-down SWAT-like Door Kickers now has a demo

If you're a fan of the SWAT games, Rainbow Six, Frozen Synapse, or the act of battering parts of your house, then you've probably got Door Kickers pencilled in your diary, perhaps even accompanied by a couple of exclamation marks. It's a real-time tactical terrorist takedown title and I'm going to stop there before I'm shot dead by the Alliteration Police. We brought it to your attention a little while ago, but now that it has a demo you can sample the game's top-down tango takedowns [This is your last warning - The AP] without having to pre-order to gain access to the alpha version. Be advised, however, that this demo version has "limited features and no updates" - if you want those, best pre-order the game for $7.99.

Door Kickers brings top-down tactical tango takedowns

Door Kickers isn't about kicking down members of the popular 1960s rock band The Doors. No, the top-down project from indie studio KillHouse Games takes the movement and positional strategies of Frozen Synapse and Rainbow Six and combines them with the real-time adapt-or-die framework of Hotline Miami.
