As the girl with the bow, fellow archers in the treeline are your targets. You pop up from cover, arrow nocked, taking them down one headshot at a time. That clears the path... mostly... for your friend with the sword to dash in. Pity nothing’s never quite so easy. Out of nowhere, a minotaur charges and you’re down, crawling and hammering the button to stay alive until your friend gets a second to turn and sling one of his precious resurrection vials your way – salvation with a side of mana to return the favour with a magically charged Battle Boost.
Hunted: The Demon's Forge
What ho readers! We have five copies of Hunted: The Demon's Forge to give away, which is terrific as we really enjoy hunting Demon's Forges. Their spindly little legs and heavy anvils mean they struggle to get away. We like to track their scent for miles before taking them on mano 'o' forgo, armed only with a knife.

Sometimes choosing the headline video for the Pwn is a difficult decision. This week, however, the first video I found was granted immediate headline status. Volition win the number one spot with their take on that 80's classic music video, using Red Faction characters. It does the worst job in the world at showing off the actual game, but as a piece of marketing madness it's a sure-fire pwn.
Funny story: PC Gamer's boss is obsessed with zombies. Completely, totally, enthralled by them. He demands, occasionally, that we stay up late and play Left 4 Dead with him, on the overclocked and overpowered rig we got for him as a 'present'. We going to leave this video on the front page of the site for a little while, just because he'll come bouncing into the office on Monday morning, demanding to know how he can play this. James - to answer your questions: it's an ArmA II mod. And yes, we do have a copy of ArmA II waiting for you. But no, we don't have a spare TrackIR hanging around. You'd look silly using one, anyway.
There are plenty more videos, including the best trailers of the week, below.
Half-Life 2 has a very special place in our hearts, so any opportunity to revisit it is a good one. Take a look at this trailer for Erik Rempen's Ladder mod. It seems simple enough to start out with, but as the game progresses the intensity increases. This is down to the excellent implementation of destructibility; it's almost like watching Bad Company 2 in the Source engine. The main tower collapsing is a notable "awesome!" moment. If you'd like to slaughter Combine in exploderific terrain, you should definitely download it.
Bethesda have revealed their busy lineup for 2011, with release dates for Brink, Hunted: The Demon's Forge and Rage. Read on for the details.
Hunted: The Demon's Forge has four different pre-order packs available in North America. They'll be available in Europe and Australia soon, apparently. It's basically a mix of equipment, levels, bosses, and character skins. New tradition: all pre-order bonuses will receive the official PC Gamer pre-order dunce hat. Because pre-order bonuses make the PC Gamer team sad.
The first in-game footage of Brian Fargo's co-op fantasy combat game has been seen by my eyes and embedded in this post. Fargo, who founded Interplay, sees it as a return to the old-school dungeon crawlers. My eyes, who founded this trailer, see it as a pretty frenetic hack-and-slash with some nice monsters and a few hints at interesting co-op moves. See what yours think.
