Games are great, as we all know. But some games are greater than others, and some people tend to disagree on which games are the greatest. That is why we have the Golden Joysticks 2011. They let us use the power of democracy to decide which games are the greatest ONCE AND FOR ALL (until next year).

The thing is, you people have too many opinions about games. Voting on the Golden Joysticks was supposed to close today, but there are still those out there who want their opinion to be known. And Lo, so it came to pass that voting on the Golden Joysticks was extended until 4pm, Monday October 17.

But SERIOUSLY. Look at my face. Okay, you can’t see my face. But it is Deadly Serious. There are brilliant PC games in some of those categories that deserve to win everything, including Total War: Shogun 2, The Witcher 2, Civilization V, Minecraft. Oh, and you stand a chance to win a top of the range Alienware gaming laptop if you vote in every category. Head over to the Golden Joysticks site and make it so.

The trailer above is our first look at Civ World, the upcoming Civilization Facebook game that’s trying to put an accessible spin on one of the most complex and detailed empire-building strategy games ever made.

Have they succeeded? Trading with friends to achieve a collaboratively could be fun, but my favourite bit is the little crown icon you get for being the most successful empire. Who doesn’t want to be king of all their friends? The game’s currently in beta, but you can find out how to join on the Civ World Facebook page.

Deathwing’s bringing a fiery cataclysm to World of Warcraft next month, but imagine if instead of a colossal dragon bringing the apocalypse, it was an army of giant robots, supported by tanks and fighter bombers. Now you can make that a reality, with this wonderfully crafted map of Azeroth for Civilization V.

Below you’ll find a massive overview of the map, you can click to enlarge it. Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms have been lovingly recreated using Civilization V’s Worldbuilder tool. From the Night Elven homelands of Teldrassil to the spiralling maelstrom at the centre of the great sea, every corner of Azeroth has been crafted, given accurate terrain and dressed in resources.

You can download the map from the Civ Fanatics forum, simply drop the extracted files into your Civilization V map folder and you’re away. If you fancy creating some new worlds of your own, check out our guide to using Civilization V’s worldbuilder.

Last week we mentioned that there would be free downloadable content appearing for Civilization V. Now it’s out! The update should apply automatically when you boot up Steam, giving you the ability to play as Genghis Khan and run riot over the steppes with armies of super fast horsemen. Firaxis have also released the Babylonian pack, which was originally released as part of Civ V’s Digital Delux edition, but now it’s available to all on Steam for £2.99, ideal if you’re looking for a more refined and well washed leader.
