Call of Duty DLC on sale for charity

Hey, remember how we always say Call of Duty DLC is overpriced? Well Activision have just launched an great big sale, offering 50% any Black Ops or Modern Warfare 3 Map Pack for the next week. That takes the price down from an exorbitant £11.49/$14.99 to a much more reasonable £5.74/$7.49.

There's something else to, a portion all all sales will go to The Call of Duty Endowment, a charity launched by Activision back in 2009 that helps veterans find jobs when their tours of duty are over.

If you're partial to Modern Warfare 3's tight arena tussles then you might be interested in investigating the new game mode, Face off. It allows for quick, violent 1 v 1, 2 v 2 and 3 v 3 contests on "smaller, super-concentrated multiplayer maps." Two of these new maps have been released for free and are playable right now.

This free taste of Face Off could help to move copies of the newly released Collection 2 DLC, which comes with two more Face Off maps, a standard multiplayer arena set in a hotel poised on top of an ancient fortress (why not?), and two co-op spec ops missions.

Aha, the first Modern Warfare 3 DLC pack has landed on Steam! "Well WHAT TIME DO YOU CALL THIS, THEN?" says every Modern Warfare 3 PC fan in the world with a glance at the watch and a tap-tap-tap of a foot. It's been a bit of a wait, but the four maps and two spec-ops missions within can now be yours for £10/$15.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 content collection to add maps and spec ops missions

The Elite service hasn't made its way over to PC, but we'll still be able to get hold of the latest map packs for Modern Warfare 3 through a series of "content collections," which are very much like the CoD map packs of old. The first pack will contain four new multiplayer maps and, for the first time, two new co-op Spec Ops missions.

That's good news. Spec Ops is our favourite part of Call of Duty, and the two additional missions look quite promising. Negotiator sends you to India to rescue hostages. Black Ice brings puts you on snowmobiles, gives you explosives and sends you on a suicide mission to blow up a weapons cache hidden in a mine underneath a giant goddamn drill.
