What is Gamer Rank?
Gamer Rank links your PC Gamer account to your Steam profile, letting you compare your games and how you play them with other PCG folk. You can see which games your friends have got and how long you’ve played them in comparison. You can see which achievements you’ve got, which achievements you’ve missed, and which achievements are rarest overall. You can see where you rank among every member of our community, and scramble up our leaderboards to the PCG top spot.
Here’s how we work out your Gamer Rank Score:
You’re awarded 110 points for each of your achievements, minus the percentage of users who’ve achieved it. We tot all those up and then multiply by ten to give you your score. This allows for scores to be quite dynamic, making rare achievements worth more than common ones.
We don’t take the amount of time played into account (unless there’s a specific achievement tied to that) because it means such different things in different contexts. For example, in one instance a better player might be the one who got the most achievements in the shortest amount of game time, but in another instance you’d want to reward the player who’d dedicated most hours to a game. However, we have the opportunity to use time as a factor in cases when two users have identical achievements.
Why do I need a Steam account?
Without a Steam account you won’t be able to make use of any of GamerRank’s features.
What if my Steam account is set to private?
If your account is set to private, GamerRank won’t be able to pull any data from it and your stats will register as zero. You’ll still be able to sign up and view the stats of your friends and the community, however.
Why can’t I see my profile?
Perhaps because your account is set to private (see above), or possibly because something has gone terribly wrong! Oh no!
What do I do if something had gone terribly wrong?
PANIC. Then stop panicking and send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Why aren’t my latest games appearing?
Gamer Rank calls on Steam’s database once every 24 hours, so it’ll take some time for your latest activities to register.
Will my private information be displayed?
Nope! We can’t see any of your private account information – like your password or credit card number. All we look at are your publicly available player stats (and we can’t even see them if you made them private).
