Just to get this straight in my mind. Does this sound right?

Fly to say a 0.6 system, scan down a site. Fly there and kill all the NPC's, if there's a gate go on and do the same. How do I find the things that can be Hacked or Arch'ed? Are they named something perticular?

When you're probing, you'll find 5 kinds of results. You can see the type of a result when you get the signal strength to 25% or greater:

    Radar - Hacking
    Magnetometric - Archaeology/Salvage
Ladar - Gas clouds (for boosters)
    Gravimetric - Mining
    Unknown - Combat/Wormhole

Combat sites will either be what used to be static plexes - when you warp in you'll get a message with a rating, e.g. 4/10. These will have an overseer at the end with a very good chance of dropping valuable loot. The other type are smaller, and usually easier, sites with a chance of escalating. You'll often get a faction rat at the end of the site, with a lesser chance of valuable loot, and a chain of escalations that may eventually lead to an overseer with deadspace loot. The latter can be worth doing, but the rated plexes are more reliable.

I see what about sites that are 100% immediately, are these the crappy ones?

Those are anomalies, the ones that can be found with the onboard scanner. They can occasionally be worthwhile but I don't bother.

In 0.0 they are awesome. 25mil+ easily from a single anomaly.

I hear it's worthwhile in those upgraded systems that have constantly respawning anomalies, otherwise I still wouldn't bother. Why settle for 25m in bounties when you can get hundreds in loot?

    Few hints on exploration

-hit the radar sites first. If it's hard to scan down, chances are it's good. further chances it's radar. Radar's where the moneys at.
-at proffesion sites (hack/salv/arch) don't worry if someone got there before you (unless you're worried about pvp). Even though they've accessed there is still a chance you can get something too. Happened to me this morning. he got nowt, i got 10 mil in skill books (high sec obv)

get your skills up so you can have 6 probes out at a time. i scan down two sites simulataneously- stealing a probe from either as required for the final 100% hit.

-don't dismiss the anomolies. i hit one in high sec (abandoned research) and got nearly 25 mill in salvage.

-keep at it. i scan before coming to work (usually 20 mins max) and this morning i got i magno, two combats and a radar. hit the radar and got 10 mill manual. for 3 mins work.

What ship and equipment are you using? Currently I have a scanning ship and combat ship which is a pain to go back and forth.

I use a vexor- cheap at 3 ml. with nice drone capabilities- having two ships is a pain in the ass, especially if you find a radar site you want to get on it asap.

i use this (from memory- ask me in game and i'll link the exact fit).
    highs
    - salvager
    - salvager
    - tractor
    - drone link nav
    - expanded probe

    meds
    - codebreaker/analyzer (as appropriate- keep code in fit, have analyze in hold)
    - cap recharge II
    - Cap recharge II

    lows
    -Med Armour repairer
    - DCU II
    - cap flux II
    - Cap Flux II

This is only cap stable for around 2-3 mins (using DCU/Ar repII), but frankly, if you haven't coped with the incoming DPS by then you're toast anyway.

The whole build is focused on cheapness- it's around 5-6 mill for the entire thing. i paid for the boat with my first radar site find, with the added bonus that if you pop into low sec and get popped- no biggie.

-MAJOR advice- if you're going to low sec sell EVERYTHING in your hold that you've got first. loosing your ships a pain. loosing the stuff you spent 3 hrs collecting is a bitch.

oh and obv, lots of drones- tech II ideally. 5x light, 5x med, 1x heavy/repair drone/ECM drone as required
