Rogue pvp can be summed up fairly simply. If you as a rogue can kill your enemy while or just after using every single stun in your arsenal then you win. If you cannot kill that person by the time (or a little after) all your stuns are used then you lose.

That's why rogues are so dependent on cooldowns, like Vanish,Blind and Preparation. Thats why most people hate rogues, because when they die they'll be in (or just getting out of) a stun. Nobody bitches about the rogue who couldn't kill them while stunning them, even though they're just as helpless during that time. And thats why when Blizzard say they want to do away with Rogue cooldowns and stuns, it's not to pick on the rogue it's to give them a different way of being able to fight, without pissing off the other player so much.

1200 resiliance killed those dots off cata, thats how i got on, even if i was nearly dead, i still lived (saying that, depends on how much damage the dots are guna do, spellpower more or less, but i see what you mean, also shadow preists 1vs1 is the prime atm and i have a bad taste for them).

I think the issue you guys probably have is that you suck at pvp more than rogues being overpowerd!

It's a fundamental issue with the very core definition of what a rogue is and what they are supposed to do. Rogues are assassins. You don't duel an assassin, you don't fight an assassin. They kill you before you have a chance to fight back. If you have a chance to fight back you will probably overwhelm them.

This is the nature of what rogues are defined as, and due to this being a core influence on the skills implemented into the game fighting a rogue can follow this pattern. A well trained assassin can kill you and there will be nothing you can do to prevent it once the assassin's plan is underway.

Before stun reduction, diminishing returns etc are applied a rogue has:

a 4 second stun usable at the start and once during a fight
a 4 second damage breaking incapacitate ability on 10 second cooldown
an interrupt on 10 second cooldown
a 10 second damage breaking incapacitate ability on 3 minute cooldown
a 10 second disarm on 1 minute cooldown
a stun of up to 6 seconds on 20 second cooldown
a 5 second near spell immunity on 1.5 minute cooldown
a 15 second 50% dodge bonus on 3 minute cooldown
the option of a 50% slow being applied on hit

Against most classes that's near a full minute of fun draining "haha you can't use your abilities" buttons in one way or another

These aren't as simple as "l2 trinket nub". They are a vast array of abilities that stop your opponent attacking you. That is the core of why people find rogues so frustrating in PvP. They get assasinated. ie they are not in control for any length of time. Facing a skilled rogue can leave you sat at your keyboard waiting either to be back in control of your character or for a time when your attacks are actually going to land.

That isn't fun. A lot of classes are fun to play against, often in a melee vs ranged situation. People whine about rogues because they sap (pun intended) the fun out of things for others. See also the old 1 man army DKs and paladins although thse guys were based more on the ability to be very defensive and very offensive at the same time, rather than disabling their opponents for extended periods of time.

Interupt with a 2second scilence and costs nothing with pvp gloves...
Blind has a 2minute CD last i checked...
Disarm should only be around 8seconds, a weapon chain is far too useful to let up in pvp (Palladins are understandable because they dont dw)...
Stun can be reduced to 1-5seconds from talents and meta gem...
2 minute CD on some specs, mine has a 1minute CD however...
15seconds, or 20seconds if glyphed (I have it glyphed for 1vs1 with melee's)...
Its 70% slow btw, and only specs like mines use it...

I thought id clear a few points

Sorry I just pulled all those direct from wowhead, so they don't all have talents and there may be rank issues
