"Hit Cap" is a theorycrafting word, which basically means that at a certain point that stat becomes less useful to you, that point is the "cap". In your case you'll want to be aiming for about 17% hit because that's the "cap". The problem with your pvp gear is that while they do give you more agility then your average blue gear which is great you can't reforge resilience so that's an absolutely wasted stat for PvE which is very bad.

Are you sure your PvP stuff is BiS? Because according to http://shadowpanther.net/starter-pve.htm it's not. So you might want to start changing that stuff.

Reforging is pretty simple really, you take 40% off a stat you don't like and add 40% to a new stat you want. So it's great for getting rid of stats that aren't great (like crit) and putting it to better use (like hit.) Once you get to around 17% hit that stat starts becoming less useful so the preference now becomes Mastery.

well the pvp gear is mostly on my toon b/c i was pvping last night and i do the argent tourney in either set of gear i have.

If I'm understanding you correctly I have a long way to go until I can cap my hit so I am guessing that the higher the ilvl gear the more hit i can reforge out? If it doesn't scale how would I ever reach the cap? Also once i reach that 17% mark do i gain the ability to reforge into two stats at once? otherwise how would i then reforge into mastery. haste, expertise etc, while keeping my 17% hit? Thank you

I don't think you're quite getting how reforging works.

Basically you bring a piece of loot to the reforger. You take a stat that you don't want and convert it into something you do.So for rogues that tends to be Crit or Expertise into Hit or Mastery, but it doesn't have to be. You can turn Crit into Haste if you want or Expertise into Parry, but we reforge into hit because it's the best stat for us to reforge into.

It stops becoming the best stat to reforge into after we hit 17% hit chance. Once that happens Mastery becomes the better stat and so we start reforging things into mastery.

OK thank you that's starting to click. my question still stands. I have a lot for gear reforged into hit already. How can i ever get close to 17% hit to hit that cap? Does the higher ilvl gear have more of a stat to reforge out of?

It's pretty much a gear thing yeah. Once you replace your pvp gear and change those greens to 345 blues you're going to get a ton more stats, which means you'll be getting alot more hit when you reforge into it. Getting to the spell hit cap isn't that hard and it should be extremely doable when you're geared properly.

patch notes for rogues as it stands:

Rogues

•Recuperate base effect now heals 3% per tick, up from 2%.
•Stealth base cool down has been reduced to 4 seconds, down from 10, and the movement penalty from being in Stealth has been removed.
•Tricks of the Trade now has a 100-yard range, up from 20.
•Talent Specializations
•Combat
•Improved Recuperate now adds 0.5%/1% to the health restoration effect of Recuperate, down from 1%/2%.
•Subtlety
•Nightstalker now reduces the cooldown of Stealth by 2/4 seconds, and instead of negating the movement penalty from Stealth, it adds a 5/10% movement speed bonus (stacking with other effects) while Stealthed.

Wow, all great changes. No one can moan about unbalance, these are super, sensible fixes. Tirx having a 20 yard range was dumb as anything. And Stealth as an actual movement speed increase with Nightstalker is amazing, bravo blizz!

Default Rogue nerf inc!!

So I saw a blue post earlier saying how Rogues are getting a hard hard PvP nerf by making their stealth have a limited duration instead of the current "haha im in ur base stealin ur cookiez". I personally look forward to this nerf as im sick of getting bent over and spanked by some scrawny rat of a class.

Any comments?...?
