I've had to revert to a beastmaster spec with my hunter. I just couldn't get on with the new marksmanship one and beastmaster doesn't feel a lot different from before. It is much more forgiving then MM, but probably not the best for leveling through to 85 or raiding with

Oh and I needed BM to get all the exotic pets (I don't really need four spirit beasts, but got them anyway)

deadard since getting cobra shot I've gone back to survival. also it seems the cool kids are saying survival is the only decent dungeon/raid spec.

    @OP

I am a little bit worried about where the game is going, so much so that i have rolled a stream of alts on 3 different servers.

I have just levelled a Worgen Frost mage to 33 and the last 3 levels were 50% herb picking lol.

I am trying to find a niche too, i'm also looking to find a rewarding toon to play as all the ones i tried recently ploughed through quests like they were cranked down to "Can turn a pc on" difficulty.

    Anyone recommend a challenging toon??

It's not about what class you pick, levelling is never going to be tough. The difficulty comes into it when you hit the cap and start progressing through PvE or PvP stuff.

yeah the levelling is more or less just teaching you how to play, the difficult stuff comes at 85 this is why they keep making it easier to get through the lower zones.

Had a chance to play a bit more and my mage never runs out of mana. Of course this is a good thing, but its a bit weird. What is water and food for now, I regenerate both mana and health out of combat in a few seconds...

I think I found the bags people are talking about. There are reputation bags on a vendor outside Silvermoon, I guess there are more for the other cities? I dont have the rep to get them yet, but not far off.

I feel a bit uneasy as Im playing. Its almost like I am not playing a mage, but some kind of simplified demo of what a mage is like and I keep expecting to have the god mode turn off at some point, maybe after 60?

Im working right up to Christmas eve, so probably wont get to play seriously until the Monday after (got two parties to go to that weekend). Even though it feels like im playing god mode in a demo, Im quite enjoying mage and will probably continue on this server. At least until someone forces me to change my name

They've drastically changed the way low level mana works - much for the better too.

Now, instead of poor lowbies having to fill their bags with shed loads of water, with Mages drinking after every mob like they used to, mana regen OOC is much higher, but it gets gradually lower and lower. Once you are in your 30s you will find you start needing abit of water, and higher still you will find it has gone back to normal.

Essentially they realised that levelling mages was annoying, due to needing to drink after killing every mob - in 5 mans it was a nigthmare, as the rest of the group would just carry on mauling enemies while the poor mages / priests were sitting around filling their mana bars up again.

Water is still neded later on, it is just not essential like it was before.

Also, levelling isn't hard, and it never has been really. Challenge in the game comes, as Zaev said, from endgame PvE (heroics and raids) and PvP

Yup, pretty much sums it up.

Pretty much agree with what Cata and GBM say.

Leveling has been made so much easier. This started to happen during the TBC expansion. With each patch questing became easier. Elite mobs that needed groups were nerfed, escort quests became just an AOE fest. I can see why Blizz has done it. There is just not the numbers of lower level players to support the more complicated game mechanics until you get to level 80.

If you are looking for a greater challenge then I would say run dungeons and battlegrounds as often as possible. They will give you much more of an idea what your class and spec should be doing.

Its a shame when i hear "Its all about the endgame".

Isn't this supposed to feel like an adventure? it used to.

Now it feels like zones cut up into even smaller zones with quests right on the doorstep and no need to explore.

bang another level, go here bang another level............etc

    Nah its over for me.
