    Default Ret Pally nerfs 4.0.3a

Darksen, Xarvoz, you noticed a pretty significant dps drop since the shattering? I certainly have, struggling to get over 7k overall on Halion last night, was almost doing that on dummies the week before.

I thought it was just me being rubbish, then I was browsing EJ and found this:

    Quote:
Anyone Notice a massive DPS loss from 4.0.3 to 4.0.3a ? Last week ich was around 19k at saurfang this week only 15k. Didn´t check the logs already if we missed some special buffs in our raid setup. Maybe someone notice dps loss too ?
Patch note was something with seal nerf but nothing what should show such a big diffrence.

I also noticed a quite serve DPS drop since the patch, but I don't have logs.

Severe DPS loss here also. Our logs from tonight:

    Quote:
    I lost roughly 2500dps.
I didn't realize TV would get nerfed, I'm just wondering how much it got nerfed.
So it seems I wasn't alone afterall. Redcape on EJ (creator of the ret dps spreadsheets) and Exemplar posted this:

    Quote:
    - TV was nerfed from 290% to 235% weapon damage
    - CS was nerfed from 130% to 115% weapon damage
    - HoW base damage was nerfed
    - Exo was buffed quite a bit at the expense of our seal of truth and judgement damage

So yes, ret paladins (and i.e. fury warriors) are back at the very first state when patch 4.0.1 went live. Which means in a underpowered state compared to most of the other classes but maybe in the right place considering L85 scaling and balancing.
Interesting, hopefully it will even out at 85. More concerning is our AoE at the moment if I'm honest. 80% weapon damage on DS makes it not worth using even with 4 targets - a normal single target rotation will still be more effective.

Redcape has also posted a new single target priority rotation: Exo > HoW > 3 TV > CS > ...

This seems clunky, especially, as pointed out on EJ, when you get two or three AoW procs in a row - two or three AoW procs followed by a couple of divine purpose procs and a hand of light proc in there too and you are looking at something which is extremely random and not fluid at all.

Methinksret still needs abit of work. Luckily though, the Zealotry change is really nice, and makes it feel abit more like a button worth pressing now, this macro looks good:

    #showtooltip
    /cast Zealotry
    /cast Templar's Verdict

Should make the initial 3TV when you use Zealotry a little more natural and responsive.

    PS
Look at the top damage mage in that log, 90% of his dmg done with Ablast, 26k dps - herp derp

to be fair cata a few classes have felt strange to raid with since 4.0.1 also all classes where buffed in 4.0.1 as the dame curve when the game was balanced to 85 was off for level 80 raids. all 4.0.3a did was apparently bring things back in line for level 85, so hopefully it should all work out.

it's like at the moment for some specs to work, for example Survival hunter you would need a skill that you can't get till after 80, so all we can hope is that these problems do work out by 85.

Yeah Rets get Inquisition at 81 which is gonna be v useful, and that will buff Exo and Hammer of Wrath and Seal of Truth and Holy Wrath dmg by 30%.

It's the rotation I am a little concerned with, if that Exorcism being number one prio thing is accurate at 85. On the beta in raid gear I found that Exo crit hard, but TV crit alot harder (bout 30k exo crits vs 40k+ TV crits), however it looks like that has changed. I know for a time in beta Exo was critting harder than Hammer of Wrath or TV, but I was testing that in Blue gear and assumed it was a scalling thing. Maybe they buffed exo, didn't like it, nerfed it and buffed tv, didn't like that and so nerfed TV and buffed exo again.

    Time will tell

I was top dmg when we killed Halion last night! Sure all the other dps were doing way higher dps than me and the only reason I was top is that they died but still, I am claiming it as a victory for Retacows everywhere.
