    Default Team Win - 5.4

    Hi guys,

I was a little down after last night and the possibility of Win not continuing due to low signups but this has just been released and it might just suit us going forward.

Patch 5.4 will add a a new raid difficulty:

Bring anywhere from 10 to 25 people to your raid and the difficulty will automatically scale.
Item level of loot is between Raid Finder and Normal and loot is awarded with the Raid Finder style loot system.
Separate lockout from Raid Finder and Normal, allowing you to do all three difficulties.

One Size Does Not Fit All
While it’s impossible to fit every player into a neat, tidy archetype, we recognize that we could be providing a better experience to one broad category of raider: social groups comprised predominantly of friends and family, and smaller guilds that do their best to include as many members in their Raid outings possible.

During the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, the 10-player Normal difficulty served these groups of players pretty well, but the unification of 10-player and 25-player into a single difficulty effectively eliminated that niche. While Raid Finder mode is extremely accessible, it doesn’t provide smaller groups with a tight-knit social experience while progressing through the content. In Patch 5.4, we’re planning to introduce a new mode of raiding that allows us to deliver the sort of experience that we think these players are looking for.

    /Flex
To fill this void, we’re in the process of developing a new Flexible Raid system, which includes a new difficulty that sits between Raid Finder and Normal difficulty, while still allowing friends, family, or pick-up groups to play together. This difficulty will be available for premade groups of 10–25 players, including any number in between. That means whether you have 11, 14, or 23 friends available for a Raid, they’ll all be able to participate.

The Flexible Raid system is designed so that the challenge level will scale depending on how many players you have in the Raid. So if you switch between 14 players one week and 22 the next, the difficulty will adjust automatically. Keep in mind that unlike Raid Finder, no matchmaking is available, so you’ll need to make sure you invite people to attend—but if some can’t make it, it’s not the end of the world (or the Raid). You’ll also still be able to invite Real ID or Battle.net friends cross-realm. Who you choose to bring and what Item Level gear they’ll need to join your merry band is up to you, too—there’s no Item Level requirement for this Raid difficulty.

    Dressed to Kill
A new Raid difficulty also means a new Item Level. Flexible mode will award loot with an Item Level that falls between Raid Finder and Normal quality, and will use the Raid Finder’s “per person” loot system, specialization choices, and bonus rolls, so you won’t need to worry about bringing the “wrong” person and having them win that piece of gear you’ve long been waiting for.

    You Have the Keys
We plan to unlock the Flexible Raid difficulty in wings, similar to Raid Finder, but on an accelerated timetable. This new difficulty also has a separate Raid lockout from Raid Finder and Normal difficulty, allowing you to take part in all three if you so desire. You’ll also be able to complete portions of your “Glory of the Orgrimmar Raider” raid meta- achievement in Flexible mode as well as in Normal or Heroic to earn cosmetic rewards such as an epic mount. This will allow Raid groups the opportunity to switch off nights between raids to complete achievements. Finally, taking part in Flexible, Normal, or Heroic difficulty will provide access to additional rewards that won’t be available in Raid Finder.

This means that we can do this as a guild not just with Team Win giving everyone a chance to see the final raid and get the achievements that you would get doing Normal mode.

I think it sounds really good and very flexible due to the separate lockouts meaning that other teams don't have to loan players and get locked and we can still raid with each other which is the part I'd miss the most if we stopped raiding.

(Edit) Re-read and it makes much more sense. Obviously this isn't something for the raid teams but a whole guild thing. Sounds good!

Finally, what's that about cancelling Team Win? Are we talking a temporary summer break? Are there issues with the new players? Lots of questions!!

Obviously, if it does come to that I would try and squeeze any Winners who want to raid into Awesome when possible.

We are struggling to get enough players still, this was the second week of not raiding.

Akee just let us know that he was considering not leading if it continues as its quite depressing logging on only to have to cancel.

Nothing is confirmed and it could all change with good signups, but at the moment we can't really continue as we are.

I'll sure a few players would love to join with Awesome if we do stop, I'm quite limited to which nights I can play otherwise I'd be more than happy to make up your numbers when you are short.

Ok, I will have a chat with Akee and see how things are going and what we can do to improve them.

The summer is always difficult for raid teams and it wouldn't be the first year that one of the teams postponed raids whilst everyone went on holiday/enjoyed the weather.

to be honest it seems since it's on a different lockout it's something that would be an instead of LFR for a guild run as you could get slightly higher loot and then you are only running as a guild team instead of a bunch of randoms, since it doesn't affect your normal/heroic lock out and you don't really gain anything by doing LFR as a guild anymore.

It's definitely an interesting addition to the raiding mix.
It's a shame that you will still need a minimum of 10 though. Yes, you can take fewer I know, but it will be scaled to 10 minimum.
I would have thought they may have scaled it up from 6+ as that would be the next step from doing dungeons. Though raids tend to need 2 tanks and 2 healers as a minimum, maybe 7+.

I agree with Zalid. I question the usefulness of this feature. If you need at least 10 people anyway then you might as well do normal mode and get higher level loot, whereas if you are casual and want an easy, social experience then you may as well do LFR and get a bunch of extra players to help you. You can always ignore the rest of the players like we normally do.

Since it tends to be a struggle to even get 10 people together I can't see there being much use for this at all.

It is a shame that Team Win is having these issues. I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest. I am going through some bad stuff outside of WoW at the moment and it is good to have a group of friends to play with, although I could probably also benefit from more time away from the game as well. I don't really know what to do.

The only thing I would say is to not rush do disband the team.
Team Awesome have been through well publicised trouble throughout its history and have managed to keep going. Best thing I can advocate is taking your time.
With summer almost on us, both teams will suffer as people go away for their hols etc.
Hopefully you will bounce back from this as we have done in the past.

I read from GC that raid rolls would still be the same so you could not send 14 DPS on a Flex raid. Interestingly he said that you would still need 2 tanks and 2 healers for the smaller raids. Since when is 2 healers been the standard for 10?
