Default Hitman Absolution Failed to initialize DirectX 11..?

Anyone know what the hell is going on here (& no it isn't pirated) and how to fix it without the official suggested 'remedy' of installing/reinstalling service packs etc (which evidentially isn't working for all experiencing the issue)
Everything is up to date (incl DX11) on my rig & I experience no problems with anything else I've recently installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks.

Are you running beta drivers? When does the game crash?

Unhappy

Hey there,

I am having the exact same problem. Whenever i try to start Hitman: Absolution (Steam), i am instantly greeted by an error message: "Failed to initialize DirectX 11".
First of all, my system meets all recommended system specs. I have windows vista 64-bit, everything updated. I also have the newest version of DirectX.

I have tried several updates to my video drivers, windows service packs, etc. etc. but nothing has worked so far. I also tried using a no-cd patch (i'm not trying to endorse Piracy here!), to see if Steam itself was the problem, but that results in even weirder error messages. A game cache integrity check did not solve the problem. Also sometimes, instead of the DirectX error, i get a "Steam servers too busy" error.

If somebody else could share their experience with this problem, or even tell everybody how to fix it, i would be more than grateful.

The Beta Catalyst drivers have been known to break Absolution. Try using the latest WHQL certified drivers. It's in the Technical FAQ.

I had the exact same problem. Failed to initialize DirectX11.

What solved it for me was this:
*For win 7
1) Click start
2) In your search bar, search for "windows update"
3) Click on it, and then once Windows update opens click "check for updates"
4) Install all the updates it recommends

Restart your pc and try HMA again :-) Should work 100%

If not, try reinstalling your graphics drivers

Some useful stuff if the solution above doesnt work:
Try reinstalling your AMD drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx

Reinstall your Nvidia drivers: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

This is the link to Microsoft helping you install new updates: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Install-Windows-updates

Had the same problem, HA just wouldn't start (I bought the game). Here's my workaround (Windows 7 64). Update Windows to SP1, install HA to secondary partition (any folder, I made mine D:\Test\Hitman Absolution), get this - http://www.mediafire.com/?zeuzz6gu2nzdd4h - and follow the instructions. Worked for me...

That's what I had to do and I haven't had the game crash since. Bummer that SE hasn't properly fixed the problem as of yet however....
