    Thumbs up Advice for Monitor

Looking to create a gaming PC and wanted to start with a good monitor.

Looking for it to be LED, around 23-24 inches, with HDMI, 1920x1080p and was wondering what would be best out of having a TN Panel or an IPS - It will be mainly used for gaming (both PC and Xbox) however will be watching movies and maybe Sky on it also.

Had a look online and it seems that TN panels have better response time which are better for games however IPS details look better on screen but have a slower response - can these response times be seen and does it make much of a difference?

Is there any that you could recommend?

I'd stick to a 24" as opposed to a 23 incher. The 24 will be a lot bigger. 23's are way too short and even tho we're only talking one inch here, it does make a difference. As for which brand, it depends on how much you're looking to spend. I really like HP's offerings and Samsung and Dell make good stuff too.

Well I was looking to pay around £1000 for the whole package, the build being around 800 and the monitor around 200 (if it's worth it). As long as it's good to play games on, mainly my 360 at the moment I will go for it.

Been looking around the net and the BenQ monitors seem decent - apparently they use them at MLG tournaments so they can't be that bad if they advertise them there.

I'd like it to be about £200- but open to monitors £200-300.

How about the ones on the BenQ website? The XL/RL series? They have 3D, better power usage, along with better refresh rates and response times, however the panel isn't an IPS.

Is there much difference between IPS and TN?

Yes, I can't stand TN monitors now.

So out of those monitors, you would go for the IPS monitor even though they have all that in their spec?

What is the difference in panels? I've read online that the picture is clearer and better colours?
