Looking at a wiki I've found out the following:
-outfits are what they call guilds and can be split into divisions
-groups of outfits can form an alliance
-outfit leaders and division leaders can voip each other but only outfit leaders can voip across an alliance (not 100% on that)
-outfits have there own tech tree that allows them to specialize (tanks, air, heavy etc) and theres a possibility that divisions can also specialize.
    - group boasting leader skills can be researched by anyone.
    - outfits can customize their armour and transport colours, patterns etc.

So for organizing the guild for maximum effect, I think it hangs on the if divisions can specialize. If so then its a simple case of creating one division per spec and people moving between them.
If divisions can't spec then an alliance of pcg outfits would work. Or possibly the pcg guild could just blitz the specialties and become master of all.

As for the day to day running, I think just checking who's online and grouping into squads ( combat squads with medics & engineers, scout squad etc) would be the simplest solution.

Just my 2p and to end this wall of text, the class I'm most intrigued by the the max suit.

I'll trust your not a bot as that is good info assuming it is correct, but being able to split the guild actually seems like a good idea, as in other MMO's the guilds normally split into teams to clear certain content, the only difference here would be the groups would split to cover different aspects of combat or to build specialist teams.

at the end of the day if they want to promote guilds in there game there has to be a way for an entire guild to communicate and not just the leaders.

No bots here ( well except in the lab down the corridor, but they can't type). Can't remember exactly but I'm certain the restrictions are purely for voice chat. Into guessing now but I'd think the normal typing channel would be the way for guild chat. And the voice is for timing attacks and such.

    Sounds good to me.

Nothing to stop us using say steam for voice although I'm sure voice should eb active in each division just not across divisions etc as that would just be messy.

Keep meaning to get out my PS1 discs.

I'm thinking something similar. I always feel like Santa in Battlefield 3, handing out gifts of ammo to my team.

Count me in. Don't know what class to pick yet, though I prefer not to be in a MAX suit. I've shifted between a Medic and Engineer in other games, Battlefield mostly. I'm also good up close so if need Light Assaults I'm good to go.

Would have loved to partake in the beta but I'm away from my gaming PC for 2 months at least :/
