    Default Gamer dies in Taiwan

Gamer Chen Rong-yu (23) died after 23 hours of gaming in Taiwan.

That's what the news is telling us, and it is always unfortunate when some thing like this happens, but it is important to keep ourselves grounded in reality.

Many new's articles have sensational headlines to them when something like this happens, and much of the time they try to imply that the reason this person died was because of video games.

Truth is lots of people spend a lot of time playing video games, that does not have to be an inherently bad thing, as long as it is done in a mature way. Another shocking truth is, people die, naturally sometimes these two events will coincide, and when they do the media is all over it. Always jumping at a chance to blame some form of entertainment for something bad that happened.

Media is always seeking to allocate blame because the idea that sometimes bad things "just happen" scares us, if there is no reason for it, it could happen to anyone, and that scares people, so they blame it on music, or movies or television or games.

"An initial police investigation found he might have died of a cardiac arrest triggered by low temperatures.
The man's family said he had been treated for a heart problem in September of last year."
-This meaning even if he had been staring at a wall in a cold room, he may still have died.

Another point that many of the articles raise is that the body went unnoticed for many hours. This happens more often than you think, not just in internet cafes but basically anywhere that people want to be left alone, it happens in libraries and on buses and trains. People just assume (most of the time correctly) that the person is just sleeping and wants to be left alone, there is nothing malignant about that.

Either way form your own opinions, I just felt like I should say something more grounded than all the sensationalism.
