learning skills to be removed on tuesday, december 14, 2010

Changes are coming to are to EVE Online which will result in removal of learning skills, a bump in attributes for many players and potentially a huge pool of skill points for anyone who has ever trained learning skills. Full details are available in the latest blog from CCP Greyscale.

Now that came from nowhere. As I have all learning skills to IV or V this is going to be awesome. Shame they are not throwing in a Remap as I managed to screw mine up.

Does... Does this mean i can put these skill points into other skills to make them practically insta train?

Shame most of my 4's and 5's are on Archer and not on Falco. I want my INTY!!!

I read it as using the SP to insta train so my learning SP is about 25 days worth of training. This is going to put a big dent into the Gunnary skills that I need for T2 Heavy Blasters. I'm still topping off my "core" skills and after Gunnary I can start to look at cross training.

Indeed, all 11 learning skills will be removed and you will get the SP back which can be used in other skills.

you know i hate it when they removed a bunch of skills which took alot to learn like with the scannng when had to use different scanners to track down target they simplyfied it which was good but the skills were changed too and lost SP on that ccp just trying to simplify Eve soo newbies dont get put off by training em lol

Nah come on, let's be honest, the learning skills didn't really add anything to the game. I can understand being disheartened by the removal of the scanning skills, since that was actually a specific part of the game that got removed and simplified to a horrendous degree, but the learning skills weren't very exciting, and were just a pain to train. You didn't get anything from them, and you were crippled if you didn't train them first, so new characters had to spend at least a week training these boring skills that didn't do anything. This change will definitely improve retention rates.

Wow, that's 2,214,000 skill points back for redistribution. But who's going to give me back the two months I wasted training them.
