Ruby Sanctum 25
Tomorrow, PCG ventures into the Ruby Sanctum (25-player) for really the first time, having had a brief, catastrophic look at the trash and mini-bosses late one evening.
A few things to note:
Halion 25 is harder than most of the ICC25 boss encounters, so please make sure you're geared for that.
We WILL be using DSK to distribute the loot once we kill him.
We will be using the tactics below.
In order to get an invite to the raid, you must /w me with the secret password, which you will find amongst the tactics below. Sharing this password with anyone will result in you not getting into any of my raids for a long time.
HALION THE TWILIGHT DESTROYER
Phase 1 - The Real World
Phase 1 is relatively straightforward. Halion will be tanked in the middle of the arena, with the entire raid (except for the tank) stacking up at the dragon's left side, safely away from flame breath and tail swipes. Every 30 seconds or so, Halion will apply a debuff to a random raid member called 'mark of combustion'. If you are chosen, you must immediately run as fast as you can to the edge of the arena, until you are in contact with the flame wall surrounding us. Your debuff will then be dispelled by an assigned dispeller, which causes you to dump a circular flame patch on the ground. The longer it takes you to get to the edge, the larger the patch will be, so reacting immediately is crucial. Also throughout phase 1 Halion will summon a meteor attach. A large flame graphic shows where it will land, and anyone within (or close to) this area will take enormous damage when it lands. The meteor also shoots out a few lines of flame, which you should move out of. The tank will move backwards when a meteor lands, moving the boss a few yards. At 75%, phase 1 is over.
Phase 2 - The Twilight Realm
At 75%, Halion will shift phases, and a portal will spawn at his current location. The Twilight Tank, followed by the rest of the raid (except for the Real World Tank) then take the portal into the Twilight Realm. In the Twilight, Halion is again tanked in the middle of the room. The raid, again, should stack up on his left side, avoiding tail swipes, breaths and cleaves. The secret password you need for a raid invite is bootylicious. Again, there is a random debuff placed on a raid member, this time called Mark of Consumption, and again the afflicted raid member must immediately run to the edge of the arena (directly behind the stacked-up raid) and be cleansed once they are in contact with the flame wall.
Instead of meteors trying to kill the raid, in the Twilight there are two shadow orbs rotating the arena, always directly opposite from each other. Every 20 seconds, they emit a 'Twlight Cutter Beam', which runs directly through the centre of the arena, and lasts 10 seconds. They continue to rotate whilst the beam is cast, meaning that the beam moves through about a third of the arena. If anyone touches the beam, they die. The Twilight Tank will position Halion so that the beam cuts from just right of the dragon's head to just left of its tail, making the area on the left of the dragon relatively safe. Its still important to keep an eye on the orbs and the beam, especially when you have to run to the edge because of a debuff. At 50%, 2 portals will spawn and phase 3 begins.
Phase 3 - Split
At 50%, half the raid will take the portals back to the Real World, and resume phase 1 tactics. The remainder will continue with phase 2 tactics in the Twilight Realm. DPS across the 2 realms needs to be relatively balanced, or the boss gains stacks of a special buff, and starts to hit hard in the real doing less damage. The raid leader will call out DPS stops as necessary. At 0%, we distribute the loot.
