Default Very bad lag in Witcher 2

    Hey folks,

Finally purchased The Witcher 2 enhanced edition on the recent steam sale, and I have only booted it up for a few minutes, to be met with abysmal lag. My system specs are in my sig, anything that seems like it might be the culprit? Can't imagine why I would have so much trouble, even on ultra settings. Or is it perhaps bad optimizing of the game?

Let me know what y'all think.

Turn off Ubersampling(setting in advanced graphics options)...most likely the reason why.
    Eats frames like crazy....
Your 6950 should be able to run this game with decent settings...

Followed your advice, did help. To get playable framerates, had to lower a few other things as well, playing at medium settings.

what would you recommend to boost that, as far as GPU? I honestly have been out of the loop since I built this rig 2 years ago. Get another card for crossfire? Or should I just upgrade to a better card?

Also, seems that my GPU is running at 70+ temps, is that a little warm? Is it perhaps time to upgrade the trusty old centurion 5?

Rough looks like the 6XXX series is really showing it's age..
Check out the 770 and the 280X...if you can find a 680 or 7970 for cheaper then go with those as the newer cards are just rebrands...
I wouldn't Xfire a 6950 unless you can find one for about $120 USD. Even still, ubersampling doesn't meld well with Xfire...I have to inject supersampling if I want that effect on two cards.

I would set it to "High" instead of "Ultra" and turn down or turn off antialiasing, and also consider turning down shadows. My rig, which posts about 18,500 (graphics) in 3DMark11, bogs with Ubersampling, so that should give you an idea of the wall you're up against. Your card is a bit of an underperformer by today's standards and The Witcher 2 is a demanding game.
