Default AMD FX-9000 and 8770 rumors

This article just hit earlier today and is pretty interesting. The rumors earlier this year of a 5 GHz FX chip might just be true after all.

http://wccftech.com/amd-readies-fx-9000-highperformance-cpu-clocked-5-ghz-fx-8770-leaked/

$700 for a FX chip is just downright stupid and would sit on the shelves until it grew roots but this 8770 looks interesting. If it was something like the C3 refresh of the Phenom II's back around 2009 which offered a little better overclocking and lower temps, man that would be awesome. Something like a 4.4 base clock and 5.0 turbo but with better temps and less voltage for around $225. Id snatch one of those up.

If the 8770 has a turbo of 5.0 with less voltage than the 8350 stock then I'm all over it.

eh Nmind.... suppose to be 220w. Not worth a MoBo upgrade.

That TDP isnt anything new really. These things are closer to 200 watts now anyway. HWMonitor shows mine at 201 watts. I know thats a calculation and not an actual measurement but still.

These are all speculative so itll likely change in the future. Im sure the $700 price tag is BS as well. If me, a high school drop out beer truck driver, knows that $700 is a completely stupid price tag for an FX processor and nobody would buy it that was in their right mind, then Im sure the highly educated people at AMD would know this as well.

Looks like we'll find out in 3 days. Im hoping for a $225-250 4.4 GHz stock clocked FX-8370! C'mon baby! Daddy needs a new pair of shoes.

I guess it was a far cry to hope for something worth an upgrade. Prolly get it to 5.0 with a hyper 212, not really worth the 400 mhz IMO.
We'll find out the 4th...I have my fingers crossed. Hopefully something gets introduced that would be worth the upgrade. Not that I'd get it right away...but AMD prices drop like crazy, and are something to keep an eye on.
