    Default Freighter Construction Project - Status Thread

    All,

    We have a couple of options on PCGE's next project after completing the Orcas. One is to construct one or more Freighters to come along and support the mining ops.

    A Freighter will mean we can mine in systems other than Stac, and not waste a huge amount of time moving the ore back and forth. We can also look at expanding into other areas such as ice mining.

    Let's use this thread as a repository to keep the comms going on the Freighter construction Project.

    To complete one Freighter hull, we need the following components:

    Capital Armor Plates x15
    Capital Cargo Bay x88
    Capital Construction Parts x55
    Capital Propulsion Engine x17

    Note this is just for an Obelisk, which is the Gallente Freighter. The 4 racial freighters are, Providence, Charon, Obelisk and Fenrir.

    Each one requires those same 4 components above, but in slightly differing amounts.

    Each of these are most cheaply bought as BPCs on the contracts market in Jita or Dodixie.

    Each of these items also takes around 3 hours to manufacture per item, so there is a significant amount of time required in manufacturing the components.

    Step 1 - We need to make a decision about which of the 4 racial freighters we're going for. Suggest anyone who is prepared to volunteer to be the freighter pilot on a mining op should post here what their training allows now, and what they are prepared to train for. Then we'll take the most common racial as the answer. Maybe eventually we'll make one of each type.

    Step 2 - We need BPCs for each of the above with sufficient runs remaining to cover these requirements. Same as the Orcas.

    Step 3 - We then need a single run Freighter BPC of the right race to complete the final manufacture.

    All this manufacturing can be done in High Sec, suggest Stacmon VII - Moon 1 - Impro factory due to having access to Corp hangars and plenty of free manufacturing slots.

    To manufacture any of these components, you need the following skills:
    Industry Level 5
    Production Efficiency Level 5
    Mechanics Level 5
    Capital Ship Construction Level 1

    Note there are no loadouts for freighters. They have no slots.

    If you're interested in helping out, we have plenty of materials to start. We've also got into a nice rhythm of weekly mining ops to keep those materials topped up.
    Please sign up to this thread and use it to keep everyone appraised of progress.

    Given how many people wanted to help, but couldn't last time, please sign up here first, and we will contract out BPCs and jobs. Then we can ensure everyone gets a fair shout at manufacturing something. Please DO NOT just got help yourself to the mats and start the manufacturing.

    A Google spreadsheet would be a great way to monitor who's doing what jobs if anyone fancies setting one up and posting the link here.

    I don't have the skills to construct the stuff. I'll look into it though. What kind of timescale are we aiming for here?

    I'm up for helping out on this, have 2 manufacturing slots free at the moment.

    I've also created a google doc showing who is working on what, link below. I've split all the components into chunks of 10 so 30 hours of manufacture.

    Davidmn - this will probably be over in 2 weeks, but it won't be the last construction project by far.

    Karadis - nice work mate. How do you edit it? I'd like an extra field on the sheet to show that I've contracted you some mats and a BPC.

    The skills needed for construction of the modules as outlined above are:

    Industry Level 5
    Production Efficiency Level 5
    Mechanics Level 5
    Capital Ship Construction Level 1.

    Capital ship construction is one of the higher levels of Eve construction, so has a much higher skill requirement.

    I'm looking to get started with some Covetors/Hulks too. Check out the Covetor BPO skill requirement.

    Hi all,
    great thread and thanks to all to get this going. I will get Nim into capital ship building asap to support the projects. Will still need a couple of weeks so.

    Sam can help with mining and research if required. Shall we not aim for Mackinaws and Retriever builds for supporting corp mining. Retriever has less skill requirements and Mackinaw is more versatile .. even if it cannot match a hulk .

    I'll have to check but I am pretty sure I have a npc corp alt laying around that can do cap production will get him in corp if it's so.
