Default So you want to be a Tank - A beginners guide

As we know finding a tank even in a guild our size can be a struggle at times. If there are any players out there who might be thinking of giving it a go, i found a nice guide with some handy tips on the us forums by chance.

Too much to copy so linky:

    Tanks for the guide Ilm!

If we could get a mod to move it to the Class Discussion area it'd be cool.
Not a criticism mind, just think its more logical there.

    Great read that.

I love tanking but the one thing that makes me reroll is the community (not pcg, game in general).

On many occasions i have had groups saying "Great job this, good tanking that" only to get a torrent of abuse if something which on many ocassions wasn't my fault happened.

Some of the time a quick explanation of what went wrong sorted this out and apologies were given.

But most of the time it's sickening how people react, and it just ends up demoralising you......then its dps alt time.

I can safely say that i would always be a tank if people lightened up a bit (and not being, bigheaded a bloody good one too i reckon)

I play DPS these days and i never feel at home.

I need some tanking practise on my prot warrior, not been tanking for a very long time. So would be nice to grp with some guildies and get on vent so I can get advice/abuse as we go through ! I'll check out the guide....
I see even in the guild there is a lack of tanks and healers sometimes in the evening, so I have resto druid as well I need practise with. Just need a grp who aren't expecting too much off the bat !

One question I have...How do you co-ordinate the CC with your pull, ranged pull & charge?

I think we have about 3 bear tanks in the guild, and several feral who know about how to play. The bears are - Ulthanilla, Suubi and Bel's Druid with the funny name. If not there are Doom, Moonoid and Gomph who are kitties but the principle is petty much the same

If I left anyone out sorry

don't ask me I've only used it a couple of times due to there being no better choice, so I wouldn't be that good to give advice on it.

The only time I've gone kitty is when I was levelling, and even then I went bear for the later levels as I found it actually more fun to solo as bear and you could handle any stupid mob spawns much easier
I am trying to get my head around healing. Still don't like the whack-a-mole feeling of healing, but it is slowly getting there.
