    Me neither

Although I may have watched my cousin play it back at some time in the 90s... Saying that makes me feel old for some reason.

Ah, good old doom so awesome you were. Hell, its still great. Ok level design isn't terrible, but we have seen some excellent mod WADS and they are in a whole new league that blows the developers ideas away. I'm sure tech improvements, mean that some maps have quite literally thousand of enemies and the difficulty factor is ramped up many, many times.

I strongly suggest playing some of them. Where arch cyberdemons and Masterminds come as a standard in most maps.

Some just do go kill crazy. Heres a smaple:

    Hey Cirius,

I never completed Doom, though played it way back. I used to play Alien Breed 3D on the Amiga which was a sort of clone, before I moved into PC gaming with my Compaq Presario.

I will have o route it out. The Internet at work has still not been installed in our cabins, and as a result, I still have only a few offline steam games - currently playing Mafia. Steam is great until you lose your Internet, then it becomes a tad limited - even if you've gone for offline mode.

I may not be as regular a contributor as I would like to be, but I'm here and I'll get onto doom - blocky graphics and all. Though I must admit for a doom clone - I really liked the Dark Forces games from LucasArts.- they haven't aged well visually but you get to shoot stom troopers and find unlockables.

Cheers for keeping the dream alive !!

    Otto

    Default new to this

Hi all, I'm new to this forum despite being an avid gamer for years now, and I joined because, well sometimes playing alone sucks. I'm interested to play this one

Anyway we can always use ZDaemon to setup some online doom

    Cheers!

This and Castle Wolfenstein started me off, Man this game was truly epic! It started me down this long path of PC gaming since 1994! I still remember being happy i got the 486 dx2, because it had the math co-processor! Also i was a huge fan of Rise of the Triad back in the day (dual pistols!)!

Impossible not to join in a doom thread.
I got an old sandisk MP3 player. Put RockBox on and hey presto - The original Doom playable - on a fricking MP3 player!
Don't know owt about the xbox versh but the original playstation version was really playable - in fact it was rock hard due to the lack of in-level saves. Tricks and Traps was an absolute bastard to get through, esp the curved stairway to the exit.

If you google it, you can find Doom being ran on a scientific calculator :-/
