I just have a handful of things to say on this.
Firstly, I really hope that you do not consider the current officers as 'raiding officers'. I myself take my job as an officer to mean that I help anyone with anything, not simply taking Team Awesome through raids a couple of times a week. Although I take the raid leading seriously and put time into it I would not like to think that people do not approach me for other WoW related things. I remember (with all the guilds I have been in) being a complete noob to WoW and all those who helped me with even the simplest of things and I want to provide the same back to players. I can understand that you want some 'social officers' but I do not feel that a new rank should be created, maybe we just need a couple more officers who are not raid leaders/serious raiders.
Secondly, the guild awards really showed the support and enthusiasm the guild has for events outside of raiding. The officers are more than aware that we have a number of social players in the guild and we have ideas in the pipeline to cater for this, we are just waiting for the hype of Cata to pass whilst everyone levels up and starts new characters etc. I think it is good that you have voiced your opinions in a well thought out thread and this means that the officers can take into account what sorts of events you guys want. This is constructive and as we can see leads to a conversation lots of people can contribute to and prevents any 'drama'.
Finally, it is difficult to go back and do old raids etc at the moment. As Team Awesome found out the other day in ICC, because our gear has changed, people are no longer expertise/hit capped, have reliable mana pools etc and this can make some encounters tough (including the Lich King). This is another reason there are few events on the calander. Once people are back up to speed we can go back and get Kingslayer if thats what people want, or Naxx, or Molten Core or whichever raid you want to see again/for the first time.
I think PCG have a lot in store for the next year for both raiders and social players. Please feel free to carry on contributing ideas to this thread, it helps us to plan social events. Also, if you want to take an event yourself just ask an officer to put it on the calander and go and do it. If you are unsure about an event, have a chat with an officer and they will help you out. An event does not need to have an officer leading it but you may even find some sign up to your events, we all enjoy the social/old world events too, just sometimes, we like to sit back and let someone else lead!
I would suggest maybe waiting until after Christmas/ New Year as many in the guild have children and families they will be devoting their time to and you may struggle for numbers. I know Team Awesome will be getting a well deserved break!
I have not been online a lot recently but I am going to try and be online more often as of this week, so if you need anything, please ask! Despite being a 'raid leader' there is more to WoW than simply raiding for me and I am looking forward to some of the social events going on in the next year.
