Minecraft Memory Problem

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem that I have been having with minecraft.

I have recently purchased the game, and started playing it on a server with a couple of friends. The problem that I am having is that after an hour or so of playing I will get booted from the game and message pops up informing me that Minecraft has 'run out of memory'. :(

At first I thought that it may be a problem with the that single server, so I logged onto the PC Gamer server, but experienced the exact same problem. Is this a known problem? If so does anyone know how to fix it?

Any help or suggestions will be greatfully received.

Since the 1.6.6 update, I've been having the same problem too - but only playing on my laptop. Never on my desktop

So I guess we just have to wait and hope that they fix it in the next patch?

Does both of you have some sort of mod installed?

I have had this problem ever since 1.6 came out. It doesn't occur in the browser but it happens maybe twice for every hour I spend on Minecraft. No matter singleplayer or multiplayer I still get the error.

I play Minecraft on 2 different computers; one, my desktop PC has cjbmods installed on it with modloader. My other machine is my laptop which is the only one affected by the memory problems and has no mods installed, vanilla. Desktop: quad i5, 8GB; laptop dual Core2, 4GB. Both Windows 7 x64

Been getting the same issue - not on this PC but on my other, much better spec, computer. Just weird and annoying to log in over and over.

Oh and it happens with both the texture pack on and off (the only "mod" I have).

Ok, I think I may have found a solutuion.

I have installed both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Java on my PC now and since doing have not had the error occur once since.

Not sure if it's a coincidence or an actual solution, but it may be worth a try.
