Mists Factions the ins and outs
This post will explain everything to do with all the factions in Mists from the quickest way to get rep all the way to what unlocks with each faction.
Once you hit 90 your main hub will be Shrine of The Two Moons when you arrive here after hitting level 90 you will have several new quests which will point you in the direction of the daily quests ups for all the Faction.
I am writing this bit by bit as I discover each faction and new information. Anything you think I have missed out of post please leave a comment, I will check what your saying is factual and then add it into the post
The Factions with their names in a Larger font are the once that are Critical for getting gear for raids (i.e Shiny purple loot)
The Anglers hub is in Krasarang Wilds at the Anglers Wharf. there are three Daily quests down here each giving +1 point in Fishing 20 Gold and 500 Rep (550 with guild perk).Once you gain honored with this faction you are able to buy this fish the major items from this factions are the Mounts Reins of the Azure Water Strider These mounts can be Obtained at Exalted so Approximately 26 days from Neutral.
Nat Pagle Also has two items that you can buy from him once you become Best friends with him these are A BoA book and a lovely fishing hat. to gain Friendship with Nat Pagle you need to fish (surprisingly) but your looking for 3 fish in Particular 1 2 and 3. the Flying Tiger Gourami is fresh water so rivers in Jade Forest, Karasang Wilds or Four Winds. The mimic Octopus is Salt water so any ocean will do including the pier that Nat's stood on. finally Spinefish Alpha is the hardest to catch and can only ne caught at Inkgill Mere in Kun-Lai Summit. Each fish gives 550 rep with Nat. Once Exalted you can buy yourself a Water Strider. These fish are unique but once handed in you can collect another one of each ready for the next days hand in.
The Lorewalkers are exactly as they sound. they tell you about a lot of lore. There is only really one reason to grind the rep for these guys and that's simple Disc of the Red Flying Cloud.Gaining rep with the Lorewalkers couldn't be simpler. all you have to do is fly around and click on Several lore items around the world to get Achievements, Once you have done the Achievements you will have all the items to need to get Exalted with this faction. Thanks to several sources that posted on Wowinsider there is a lovely map Available with all the Coordinates of all the items you will need to find LINKY! Using the Coordinates on that page and an Addon such as tomtom you can get all the items in a little over an hour. then its simply a case of going to a mailbox taking all the items out the post and then Accepting and handing in the quests
Ok so there is alot of things to know and do for the Tillers and for full list of information click here the Outline of this faction is simple. You want to level cooking? well here's your farm go grow stuff. Once you have done the Relevant quests in and around Four Winds you are able to start the quests using your first 4 plots of land. Once you have these plots of land you can you buy seeds from the Merchant Greenfield each item you "harvest" which can only be done once a day will give you 55 rep with the Tillers. Due to server time you can harvest and then replant your crops any time after 11pm. Along with these four plots of land you also have a Selection of daily quests to do as well. Quests give between 138-493 rep per hand in as well Ironpaw Tokens which are used to Purchase cooking ingredients. These dailies reset at the standard 3am.
Every time you go up a rank with the Faction you will be able to do a short quest chain to clear an extra 4 plots of land up to a Maximum of 16 plots at Exalted.
There are Also 10 members of the tillers that you have to gain rep with individually from the starting rank of Stranger all the way up to Best Friend once you get best friends with each of them you get a nice little item from them. to get rep up with the tillers members all you have to do is a repeatable daily quest which involves cooking 5 items and handing them into each member. As well as this you will also notice "dark Soil" throughout the world in these mounds are items from "lovely apples" to "jade hares". Each member of the Tillers has a Specific type of item they like from "anything green" to Anything Natural". handing them into the correct NPC will give you 900+ rep with that person and if you hand them into the wrong one you get 500+ rep.
for an inside tip you can talk to Jogu the drunk and for a Varying amount of gold each day he will tell you what is going to grow well and will create "plump" items. Plump items contain 8 cooking Ingredients instead of the standard 5 and will also have a chance of giving you some seeds.
Once you hit Exalted with the Tillers you can go and buy a Goat. ^^
Order of the Cloud Serpent
This is the big ones for when it comes to mounts. This is the faction you need to firstly get your Cloud Serpent as well as if your a Jewel crafter you can also make your Jewelled Panther . There are some very nice easy quests to do to get Exalted with this faction all based in and around The Arboretum in Jade Forest. if you have levelled all of your secondary professions up to 525 or Above you will be able to do an Exalted four quests based around the secondary profession for 133/4 Rep each day. For all older players of wow reading this, This faction is the new Netherwing, Yes you guessed it! EGGS! these eggs are few and far between and are mainly found at the high points on the Windward isle. if you click on the "EGGS!" link you will find on the comments some Macros thank you can use with tom tom to load all the locations on your mini map.
Dread Waste is the home of the Klaxxi based at Klaxxi' Vess. to unlock these dailies you need to of a fair chunk of the quests in the zone. at most you can gain 1100 rep with this faction a day. the first lot of rewards you unlock at honoured are Blacksmithing patterns. Mainly item level 463 these weapons can be good to get into the starter raids. there are also 6 epic patterns 3 chest plates and 3 Gloves one of each type Tanking Healer and Dps. At honoured and revered you get Access to the first Epic from Valor points. this is the First faction you will hit Revered with and therefore the first Rep Epics. at Honoured you can purchase an Epic Necklace one for each type of Role. at Revered you gain access to Epic Legs and Belt. At Exalted you gain access to Blue Item level 463 Weapons, Which Seems a little pointless as it will take the best part of 20+ days to gain Exalted by of which time you should of get a blue from running Heroics. the only other Buy able Reins of the Amber Scorpion. Also at Exalted you will receive an epic from a quest item that looks something like this.
Golden Lotus are possibly the most important faction in this expansion mainly due to the fact that once you are Revered you unlock 2 more faction which I will get onto in a bit. So all of these quests are based in Vale of Eternal Blossom. the first lot of quests can be found at The Golden Pagoda each day and will send you up to The Golden Stairs. once these quests are down you will be send to either Mistfall village which yes is always on fire or Whitepetal Lake. these are your basic quests for Golden lotus. As you progress up to Revered you gain extra sets of quests sending you to new hubs each time.
Ok so the loot, At honoured you can buy one of five rings, one for each roll that look like this. At revered you can purchase an Epic Chest or shoulders. And at Exalted you can then buy a Riding Cranes. As I said at the start of this section once you hit Revered you unlock 2 more factions the Shado Pan and The August Celestial. for Lore reasons I'm not going to mention why you get these until Revered with the Golden Lotus but it is explained in the quests.
Once you are Revered with the Golden Lotus. you will unlock the Shado Pan hub in Townlong Steppes the Hub is located at Gao-Ran Battlefront. At honoured you will be able to purchase a few fun items including Breakable wood stacks. Once you are Revered with the Shado Pan you are able to purchase Helmets Trinkets and Capes for most roles as well as the Major Weapon enchants i.e. Jade Spirit, River's Song and Dancing Steel. Once you hit Exalted with the Shado pan you will unlock 3 mounts and a Transmog Helmet . The Helmet comes as cloth, Leather, Mail or Plate so everyone to transmog to it.
The August Celestial
Once you get revered with the Golden Lotus the August Celestial's quests will become Available. to Start these quests you must firstly go to Sage Lotusbloom the Quartermaster underneath Shrine of the Two Moons and ask her where help is needed. She will send you to one if four temples. Temple of the Jade serpent, Temple of the Red Crane, Temple of the Black Ox or Temple of the White Tiger. Each day will be Different so you have to go back and ask her each day. At Revered, players can purchase epic wrists, gloves, and boots with Valor Points as well as several recipes for enchant Bracers. Once you hit Exalted you are able to purchase 2 Thundering Cloud Serpents.
Each Daily quest gives you 4 things:
. Rep with the corresponding faction
. Approximately 20 gold per quest
. 5 Valor Points (until the 1000 weekly cap)
. 2 Lesser Charms of Good Fortune
Once you have 90 Lesser Charms of Good Fortune you can trade them in for 3 Elder charms of Good Fortune. (note you can only trade them in once a week and can only have a maximum of 10) These are used for extra rolls on loot in Raid Finder and on World Bosses. Each boss you kill you will automatically get a chest containing either Gold or an Epic item for your class and spec at the time of the kill. (i.e. you tank it you get tank loot). Upon killing the boss you will also be asked if you want to spend an Elder Charm to get a Second chance on loot. This is worth doing as I've done all my daily quests every day and still have over 360 Lesser charms in the bank after only 10 days of Daily
So if your after epics for raids you must do Golden lotus and Klaxxi to start with and then August Celestial's and shado pan when they unlock.
If you want to level Cooking doing the Tillers is a must
If you want to level Fishing the Anglers make life easier.
If you want want to use ANY type of Cloud serpent because everyone Cloud serpent in the game needs cloud serpent flying you must do Order of the Cloud Serpent.
If your a mount hoarder your have to do them all because every single faction has a mount.
Excellent write up there young sir.
You do not need to be 90 to get your farm started. If you can get over to Halfhill in 4 winds then you can get the 4 plots running. Which is great for getting your alts bringing in ingredients.
It's not a Jade hare - it's a Jade cat ;)
Should also mention that as you progress up through the Tiller rep ranks you open up more farming plots, until you get a total of 16 plots. When you complete the quest to open up each extra plot, you will need to wait 15 minutes from when you return to your farm for the plot to become available. You will get a debuff while the Tiller clears the plot for you to use. I believe these extra plot quests only become available at level 90.
Talking to Jogu the Drunk at the pool by Halfill market and paying him a varying daily amount will net you info on what seeds to plant. These will net you an extra 2 crop per plant. Normal crop yield is 5, so that is 7 if you take his advise.
One other thing to note is that your farm resets at 11pm, and all the dailies reset at 3am UK time.
The daily quests are for Anglers rep but the rare quest drops are for Nat Pagle friendship which is separate. The rep items only require Anglers rep.
The quest drops can only be handed in once a day and they a BoP Unique so you cannot pick up two. A way around this to store them in your bank.
The Anglers has a Tiny Goldfish pet at Honored.
Post updated thanks Zalid and bimble
Thanks for this info Sark - I knew most of the basics but it's good to have a place where it's all collated.
Don't forget that a decent way of getting rep is doing all the non-repeatable quests you can which give rep - Anglers for example have a small hub in the south of the Dread Wastes which is easy to miss.
You can also get lucky and get one of the Tiller presents when you harvest a crop.
Checked out the Tiller link again and it looks like you can start farming at 86 :
I started farming at 85 after I did Fishing and Cooking the first night. I have also done this on an my inscription alt.
