Video player bugs and complaints
We've noticed that some people are having issues with the video player we use for our posts, unfortunately most of these complaints don't come with a lot of details. So we're going to use this as an official bug report thread. If you want to help us improve, please let us know:
Exactly what happened.
What browser you were using.
What operating system you use.
What ISP you are on.
If you have adblocker or similar programs installed
NB: The issue where the player hangs for ten seconds before starting should have been fixed as of two weeks ago.
If you could include an email address so we can contact you with queries, or a screenshot of an error, that would be fantastic.
I will pass these on to the tech team to try and address the problems.
Thanks for your help.
Exactly what happened. the video takes about 10 seconds to load, then plays for about 10 seconds before having to buffer for another 10 seconds. repeat. occasionally it wont load at all.
What browser you were using. firefox 5
What operating system you use. w7 64
What ISP you are on. comcast (usa)
If you have adblocker or similar programs installed. adblock plus
my email address is in my profile for admins to contact me. i wont post my email address on public forums
Every time I click on a CVG video, the embedded video window goes dark (as though buffering), but never begins to play.
Using: Chrome 13.0.782.112 m
Windows 7 64-bit
ISP: Grande Communications (USA)
No ad blocker or add-ons at all.
I've never had any problems with any other embedded video player.
Not a had a problem with the video personally, but Not having option for HD makes it really crud if you ask me..umm..personally.
The player deletes its buffer if you try and go back to a certain time.
There's no options to swap resolution if you have a lower (or higher) download speed.
Sometimes the player doesn't start playing again after it's been paused or has paused to buffer.
Pretty much if it acted the same way as the youtube player, noone would complain.
Operating system: Windows 7 - 64 bit - home
Using: Chrome 13.0.782.112 m
ISP: Talk talk
Not using ad-blocking extentions
For me, sometimes the videos load, and sometimes they don't (I'll have to refresh the page or something) or sometimes it just takes a really long time to load.
- I'm on an iMac, with both OS X Lion and Windows 7 64-bit installed (via Bootcamp) and I've had the problems on both. (Using Safari in Lion and Chrome in 7)
- ISP: Execulink (independent network) Canada
- not using any ad blockers
My suggestion is to NOT fix this problem. Don't even try. Just post YouTube videos instead.
If you want my email address just PM me.
Stopped in the middle of a video after having tried to rewind. Had to refresh the page to get it to run
Windows 7, Firefox 6.0, Talktalk (no snide remarks please :p), adblocker installed
Sometimes, it simply doesn't start. Or it plays an advertisement and then has trouble starting.
I can click play and nothing will happen.
Chrome 13 on OS-X 10.6.8.
I understand that the CVG players may be necessary for additional revenue, but if you could post a youtube video link super secret-like beneath it I'd be happy.
Exactly what happened: The ad for the video plays fine.... then when it gets to the actual video it goes dark and never plays. Why the hell do I have to watch an ad only to never see the video I wanted to -.-. Also, when I click on play, then hit the back button the CVG player no longer shows up on any post using it, it becomes a white space of nothing and I have to restart my computer to get it to show up again.
What browser you were using: Chrome
What operating system you use: Windows 7 64 bit.
What ISP you are on: WOW.
If you have adblocker or similar programs installed: I did not have adblocker on.
