These are games that many of us hold dear to our hearts, filling us with fond memories of roughing up thugs, beating on bosses with our buddies, and picking up loot that just happened to be stashed in random barrels. Perfect World knows the appeal of a good old beat-’em-up, and the addictive combo you get when you mix RPG elements with arcade-style combat. If you like fighting-game MMOs, like Dungeon Fighter Online, you’ll love Perfect World’s upcoming action MMO, Rusty Hearts. Want to play it before everyone else? That’s why we’re sharing our 1,000-use beta code for Gunshine.net, a browser-based online isometric RPG dungeon crawler set in a dystopian future, with you all. Rift’s dynamic invasions [beta key giveaway]

PC Gamer at 07:54pm November 24 2010

In Rift: Planes of Telara, your world is under invasion by dimensional invaders who are systematically ripping holes in the space-time fabric around your planet. Not good, but it gets worse. If you and the other players don’t push in and close the rift (via a slick and co-op-able party quest), the interlopers will establish a foothold in the region, erect structures, terraform the land to resemble their plane, and send war parties at nearby towns that battle with local guards. If left to their own devices, the invaders will bring in a huge monster boss that marches toward the town, crushing everything in its wake (but offering incredible rewards for players that band together to defeat it).

Contest: Fifty beta keys are up for grabs; details at the end of the post.

Get a beta code and special tank for World of Tanks

Widely used by the Allies and Soviets during WWII, the Valentine proved to be a reliable tank early on in the war against Germany due to its small size and decent armor. And PC Gamer is letting you drive one of these lauded tanks in the upcoming free-to-play MMO World of Tanks. We’re giving out closed beta codes to the first 50 people that ask for ‘em. Even better, when you use our code to access the beta, you’ll receive the Valentine tank to charge into battle with, and will be able to keep it after the game goes live! Full details below.

Update 2: The contest is over. Stop emailing us.
Update: Wow. I knew PC Gamer readers love tanks, but that was insane! Four minutes after posting this article, we’d already received 50 emails. So we’re going to give away more! In addition to the first 50 recipients, we’ll give away beta codes (with the tank) to 50 random people who email us before noon PST tomorrow.

Thighboned in Vindictus [Giveaway]

See this piece of ham? It’s about to be lodged down the throat of a dirty Kobold that’s squirming around on the ground in front of me. I could just use my sword or a spear but the sight of a giant thighbone smacking a Kobold is just so much more satisfying than pinning it up against a wall or slashing it apart. This is just one reason why I’m having fun playing in the beta of the free-to-play MMO, Vindictus.

Giveaway: Tell us in the comments what food, decorations, or random debris in a dungeon that you want to kill kobolds with and why. 50 winners will receive open beta keys for Vindictus. Winners will be selected tomorrow (September 30). Only residents in North America (see ‘Contest rules’ below) are eligible for this contest.

Those of us in the United States have a three-day weekend coming up, and this isn’t one of those “family” holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. This is boring ol’ Labor Day, which, for gamers, means that we’re looking at a solid 72 hours of prime gaming time. But what about the gamer whose gaming collection has run low? How will they possibly fill the long weekend without new games to play? Don’t worry, as always, PC Gamer’s got your back. Here’s our roundup of games with free-to-play weekends, open betas, or recently launched free-to-play games to keep you interested. And if that’s not enough, we’re giving away five retail games to keep you gaming all weekend long and beyond!

You need to be signed up to receive our newsletter, which is ticked by default when you create an account. If you’re not already a member of our community, just take a sec to sign up – we’ll be sending these keys out at 5pm BST (12 noon EDT).

Help test a game: Big Match Striker

Big Match Striker is a new online football game, and it’s a really interesting idea. Think of it as Theme Hospital crossed with Football Manager, then crossed again with a pub trivia game – all hosted online. The guys who are making it at Supermassive need help testing it, and they’ve opened up their first beta to PC Gamer readers.

Register now for the Fallout Online beta

Fallout Online may not have released any trailers, screens, or even concept art, but they are taking registrations for the beta. Interplay have said that “interested players who sign up are on the fast-track for beta-testing”, and will also receive some sort of  newsletter with “tales from the wastelands”. There’s even an intro video where a hand looks at some polaroids, or something. Mysterious indeed.
