Crysis 2 sign-in problems lock players out of multiplayer
Many players booting up Crysis 2 for the first time have found themselves locked out of the multiplayer mode. To play against others, you’re required to log in with a MyCrysis account. For a number of people, the system doesn’t recognise their log in details, leading many to create new email addresses to get around the problem. It’s not just affecting a few players, either. There’s already a 47 page thread on the Crysis 2 forums full of players who can’t play the game they’ve paid for.
Red Faction: Armageddon screens have martian bugs and mech suits
Red Faction: Armageddon takes the series undergournd, into the catacombs that lie beneath the surface of Mars. You know the ones, right? The ones full of giant martian insects acting under the command of a mad cultist? There are 19 new shots below, full of muzzle flash, exploding aliens and occasional mech suits.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer kills all guards
Zeke Sanders is wearing an eye patch. He has to die. The latest Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer from GameVideos shows us three ways to get the job done. The aggressive approach has Jensen breaking out the grenades and assault weapons to kill his way to the target, the stealth approach involves going invisible and tranq darting guards, and the adaptive aproach involves anything that isn’t covered by the other two. Surely hacking a turret, ripping its head off, using it to mow down guards and then throwing it at the last sentry surely falls under the “aggressive” category. Check out our Deus Ex: Human Revolution preview to see how the sequel’s shaping up.
20 Years of Blizzard: Blizzard’s DNA
We celebrated Blizzard’s 20th anniversary with a massive cover story in our April issue that analyzed just how far-reaching their impact on gamers across the globe has been. In part two of that story, (read part 1 here), we put Blizzard under a microscope to inspect the people involved, and what they’ve gone off to do around the industry.
It’s difficult to measure exactly what Blizzard’s effect on the gaming industry has been, but one glance at the monster-sized image below tells you it’s big. Go ahead, look around—every game here had at least one ex-Blizzard employee working on it. From casual adventures to hardcore shooters, they’re everywhere!
Duke Nukem Forever release date disparity demystified
The new Duke Nukem Forever release date raised a question around the PC Gamer US office: why is this game, which stars the quintessential American badass, is made by an American developer, and is published by an American company being released four days later in North America than internationally?
What gives? Don’t 2K and Gearbox know that Americans have grown accustomed to preferential treatment? Who are the conspirators behind this? We want names!
We asked 2K PR Manager Charlie Sinhaseni, and the answer is so simple that it’ll surprise you.
Kill us! Play on the PC Gamer official Crysis 2 server
As PC Gamer editors, we’ve sworn an elaborate blood oath by which all of our waking time, in some fashion, must benefit our readers. When we’re not writing, we’re required to be playing games with you: League of Legends, TF2, ArmA 2. Today, we’ve added a Crysis 2 server (the “Sad Nun”) to that set of multiplayer arenas. Here’s the info:
Name: PC Gamer | Sad Nun – CrySister
IP: 8.17.251.180:64000
If our turf is too intimidating, we’d encourage you to consider our provider, Art of War Central, for a server of your own. Like a reliable, server-running bumblebee, AoWC has pollinated our multiplayer play for more than a year. Once you’ve played a bit, feel free to suggest specific server settings (we’d like to keep it ranked, for now) or map rotations in the comments or on our Crysis 2 community forum.
Post-PAX recap: “The Death of an Indie Studio” by Scott Macmillan
At the “Death of an Indie Studio” PAX East panel earlier this month, developer Scott Macmillan offered a reality-check to the dream of indie success. For an hour, he autopsied his defunct studio, Macguffin Games. “Part of why I want to do this talk is because if those lessons don’t circulate around a bit and become useful to people, then I failed in some way. Besides the obvious way that I failed.”
And in other PC gaming news…

Dirt 3 trailer has three monitor racing
Here’s a video of former IRC rally champion Kris Meeke bombing his way around a sprint track in Dirt 3. He plays on a three monitor set up, with a force feedback frame, gear stick and racing wheel, which is as close as you can get to emulating a racing experience short of driving a rally car into your front room. The game’s due out May 24.
Editorial: What will the “next generation” of MMOs look like?
2011 is shaping up to be the year of the MMO: most of the big names we’ve been drooling over for the past few years are just around the corner. With the recent launches of DCUO and Rift still fresh in player’s minds, a common question has been cropping up around forums and blogs: Is this the start of a “new generation” of MMOs? You can’t blame the people for asking–just about every MMO ad and marketing campaign claims that their new game is “next-gen.” But what does that even mean? Let’s take a look at four of the latest and upcoming MMOs–Rift, Star Wars: The Old Republic, TERA, and Guild Wars 2–to see if we can figure out what features and gameplay mechanics are going to define the next big wave of MMOs.
First look at TERA’s achievements
TERA is a new MMO that hopes to replace traditional taskbar and cooldown combat systems with more fast paced fighting. The eight classes are designed to be able to work together in small groups that will be able to take down hordes and boss monsters with careful teamwork and some quick reflexes.
Frogster have sent us the first details on TERA’s achievement system, which will reward players for their in-game accomplishments with special titles. Some titles will be so rare that only a few people in the whole world will be able to hold them. Read on for a list of some of the new achievements, and a developer walkthrough video showing some of TERA’s combat and classes.
Rift world war kicking off March 30
Rift’s only been out for a month, but the first major world event is about to strike. Trion Worlds say that every zone will come come under worldwide attack next Wednesday March 30. The skies over Telara will open and every area will be swamped with the minions of Alsbeth the Discordant. The attack will last a week, and will give players the opportunity to grab some exclusive loot, including a spectral horse mount. Once the attack is beaten, these items will disappear forever.
F1 2011 announced, arriving September 23
In the wake of F1 2010′s recent BAFTA win, Codemasters have announced that they’re working on a follow up. Codies say the game will feature “vastly extended competitive and co-operative multiplayer,” along with the full roster of drivers, teams and manufacturers for the next Formula 1 season. The game will also include the new Indian Grand Prix, and will include the return of the Nürburgring course. FM 2011 is set for release on Septermber 23. Head to the FM 2011 Facebook page for more information.
Duke Nukem Forever delayed, again
Duke. Offensive or not so offensive, you’re one tardy man.
Yes, Duke Nukem Forever isn’t getting released until June 14 in the US and June 10 for the rest of the world. Last thing we heard, Duke was getting released in early May.
Randy Pitchford confirmed the delay on 2K’s YouTube channel. Click more for the video.
Space Marine coming in August
There’s no exact release date yet, but Space Marine will be coming out in August. A fine month to step into the giant, armoured boots of the Emperor’s finest and mash up some Orks. Relic have also confirmed that the forces of Chaos will be in the game, and have thrown out some nice big versions of the screens we saw yesterday. You’ll find them below.
