Shift 2 Unleashed launch trailer goes VROOM
Shift 2 Unleashed is out tomorrow in the US, and on Friday in Europe and the UK, and is hoping to beat serious sims like Forza and Gran Turismo for pole position., but what will it look like? The trailer above shows plenty of ultro-vroom. It’s got it all, supercars, twisty bits, straight bits, and lots of speed. For more info, head over to the Shift 2 Unleashed site.

The Sunday Video Pwn
Half-Life 2 has a very special place in our hearts, so any opportunity to revisit it is a good one. Take a look at this trailer for Erik Rempen’s Ladder mod. It seems simple enough to start out with, but as the game progresses the intensity increases. This is down to the excellent implementation of destructibility; it’s almost like watching Bad Company 2 in the Source engine. The main tower collapsing is a notable “awesome!” moment. If you’d like to slaughter Combine in exploderific terrain, you should definitely download it.
Six cards to jumpstart your army in BattleForge
Just having large, fire-breathing dragons that can burninate pathetic peasants on a whim is not enough for me. My fire-breathing dragons must be infused with unholy power and foaming at the mouth with bloodlust before I sic ‘em on the enemy—if we’re going to kill an entire civilization, we’re going to do it right, dammit. So I give my dragons drugs.
EVE Online: A Future Vision trailer shows a future vision
CCP Games just released this pre-rendered trailer depicting their vision of the future of EVE Online. It shows a lot of things we’ve known about for a long time, including detailed characters, explorable stations, and the interplay between EVE’s space war and ground battles happening in console action game Dust 514. It’s an almost staggeringly ambitious project, and although the trailer doesn’t show any actual game, it’s easy to get excited about its potential.
Saturday Crapshoot: Lula 3D
Every week, Richard Cobbett rolls the dice to bring you an obscure slice of gaming history, from lost gems to weapons grade atrocities. Today, prepare to have sex ruined forever by an erotic adventure that’s as much fun as discovering your childhood teddy bear has chlamydia.
Lula 3D features a warning label warning “Intense erotic scenes may lead to CHOKING, SWEATING, and RAPID HEART BEAT.” It wishes. It’s a game whose box proudly promises that “Bouncing Boobs Techology” lies within, clearly relying on its target audience not being in a position to call bullshit at the leaden, poorly animated mammaries awaiting their disappointed perversion. From start to finish, the only positive thing you can possibly say about Lula 3D is that at least it has the courage of its grotty convictions, earning its 18 rating with sex scenes and gratuitous nudity from the installation program on. But no, that’s not why we’re looking at it today. Oh, no. We’re here for the one thing it doesn’t promise – the most drugged-up, logic-defying road trip ever slopped on DVD.
Full details on Lee-Sin, League of Legends’ upcoming champion
Good one Riot Games! You really got me with that prank—for a second there, I thought you’d actually confirmed plans to release of the Blind Monk, after years of denying he would ever be revived. Whazzat? It’s not April Fools’ Day? Then…it’s true! Lee-Sin, better known to old-school League of Legends fans as the Blind Monk, is finally resurfacing after a two year hiatus. Come check out the classic champion’s new moves, including a roundhouse kick that puts Chuck Norris to shame.

The weekend playlist
The weekend is nearly here. That’s 48 hours of freedom that we can use to play anything we want. Thousands and thousands of games are out there, begging for our attention. Should we play 2880 games for one minute each, or stay faithful to one game for the whole time? These are the trials of the PC gamer. We must stay strong and focused in the face of all this choice, which is why we’ve planned ahead. Here’s a run down of the games we’re planning to play this weekend, and why.
And in other PC gaming news…
Are you wearing an eye patch? If yes, you’d better have a quick look over your shoulder. Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s Adam Jensen might well be standing there, ready to throw a turret at you. When Eidos talked about turning turrets against their owners, we didn’t think they meant it quite so literally, but that Adam Jensen’s a lone shark, he’s an independent thinker. He thinks outside the box, then picks up the box and throws it at you.
Jensen’s not the only rogue agent. We’ll be spending some quality alone time with Commander Shepard in the new chunk of Mass Effect DLC. We’ll have to wait and see if going solo will take some of the magic out of the Mass Effect 2′s winning formula when The Arrival comes out next week. At least Shepard wants to go it alone. Many Crysis 2 players today have been frozen out of the multiplayer side of the game. Hopefully Crytek can come up with a fix soon.
But what else has been going on in PC gaming? Find out in the list below, in which Randy Pitchford explains why Duke got delayed again, a fan makes a live action Splinter Cell film, and Ubisoft try to hire you to write an Assassin’s Creed encyclopaedia.

Just Cause boss says hiring hackers and better games will beat PC piracy
Better PC games and a better relationship with hackers are the key to fighting piracy, according to Christofer Sundberg, the boss of Just Cause creators, Avalanche. Sundberg believes that common anti-piracy measures like DRM “punishes the people who have actually paid for the game,” and says that hiring hackers is a good way to discover new talent, admitting that “50 percent of the people that work for me come from a hacker background.”
Mass Effect 2 The Arrival DLC will have Shepard fighting alone
Commander Shepard will be flying solo for the final slice of Mass Effect 2 DLC. The Arrival will see you journey to the very edge of charted space to help out an operative with early intelligence on an imminent Reaper invasion, but none of your companions will tag along for the ride. It looks as though Bioware are planning a challenging end to the last piece of Mass Effect 2 DLC with plenty of combat and not much conversation.
