Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light turned out to be really rather good, but it was missing a crucial feature on release: you could only play the excellent co-op mode locally. Thanks to the latest Steam patch, that is no longer the case. Players can now combine forces over the internet to stop the dark god Xolotl, so if you were waiting for this patch to pick up the game, now’s the time. It’s available to buy on Steam, to find out why it’s so good, check out our review.

Please read: a personal appeal from “Jimmy Wales”

Hi, I’m Jimmy goddamn Wales. You may know me as the founder of Wikipedia or from my reputation as not a spy. These past few weeks, I’ve been staring at every Wikipedia user through their screens in an attempt to a) distract them while Larry Sanger steals their silverware, and b) mind-trick them into donating to Wikipedia.

I’ve made a huge mistake.

Wikipedia, while an excellent resource for proving people wrong in pubs or undermining the legitimacy of the Phone A Friend option in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, is useless at entertaining sick children. Sick Children Weekly called it “boring” and “mama?”.

It’s an understatement to say that I have a thing for accessories that light up. My keyboard can glow three different colours and has a dimmer switch. Here is a personal indulgence, then: Razer’s latest Tron mouse. It glows bright blue, has a 5600dpi 3.5g laser sensor and a glowing detachable energy disk that you can throw at the faces of your enemies. It also masquerades as a light cycle. One of the last two facts is untrue. Guess which. Moving picture proof is below the break.

That doesn’t mean a free ride for pirates, however, as the developers have announced that they plan to fine people who download the game illegally.

It’s been a fine few weeks for charity projects. An indie sock sale recently raised thousands of dollars, and a team of heroic volunteers are even now braving the terrible boredom of the Desert Bus challenge. The latest effort for Child’s Play might just top them all. How would you like to own your very own Portal gun?

MEDIC! Come patch this game up or I'll shoot your balls off!

We were less than impressed with Call of Duty: Black Ops, and being hit with bad framerates, stuttering and other glitches didn’t exactly improve our mood. Luckily, there are ways of whipping it into shape without having to wait for another patch to come along. Here’s our guide to CODBLOPS bliss.

When I first started playing Minecraft a few months back, I played with a rule: if I die, I have to delete the entire world. This is the third entry in the diary I kept of that experiment – the first is here.

It’s a crazy time for WoW fans. We’re all looking to forward to the Cataclysm expansion that’s coming in early December, and this morning’s patch will change Azeroth forever. To make sense of everything that’s happening–and see how the development team is feeling with Cataclysm just around the corner–we sat down with J. Allen Brack, Blizzard’s Production Director, earlier this week to find out how everything’s progressing, where it’s all headed, and why he just can’t stop making boxes light up.
