Also, this isn’t WoW, and it shouldn’t try to be “the WoW-killer.” WoW is still king, but it’s old and past it’s prime. Even the upcoming Cataclysm reboot will only serve as a temporary distraction for the long-time players (like me) from that “been there, done that” feeling that is bound to return sooner than wanted it to. Here’s to hoping SWTOR stays true to its own path and gives us a new, unique experience in the Star Wars universe that could best be described as “KOTOR that never really ends.”

Personally, I’m very much looking forward to the game, but I’m ignoring all the non-major PR right now. Of course, I want to know about the space combat and can’t wait to get the mag in the mail, but all these little contests, lore, comics and social media mind-games…I’m not even looking. I’ll start learning about the actual game right before release. I know this will be the best SW game in many years and am not going to ruin my own experience by being falsely convinced that it will bring me eternal happiness and inexhaustible wealth, lol.

Trust me, I pray and hope it’s going to be as good as everyone hopes, but with all this hype, I am worried it’s not. I really did love the original SWG game, opening up the blue Jedi screen for the first time, being able to nearly kill top end bounty hunters as a lowbie Jedi… ah those were the days, even if Darth was stuck in a cubby hole and you could emote a fart in his face and live to tell about it.

Like many, I want the next generation mmo. The one that gives players the freedom and will be the REAL WoW beater, but are our own expectations too high that we trust the hype or will SWTOR fail because of it, like many before it?

I wish them luck and will look forward to playing it.
