This game rocks. That’s why my Steam name will be “Alien Swarm=Awesome -Slyder” for a month or so. And I think I will have to complete AS on normal difficulty before I try first person. My friends aren’t really good at it. Go the other way as me (I’m the medic), get parasited, and then blame me for not saving him.

This game has eaten far too heavily into my nights, but the loss of sleep is worth it. An astounding game considering it’s free, although definitely requires friends (or at least competent players willing to chat about what you’re doing) to be at its best.

Just tried the FPS mode. Found you had to change the asw_controls command back to hack into things, and rolls always send you dodging north. Great fun nevertheless, and the graphics hold up surprisingly well up-close.

Considering it’s free? Tons and tons of fun. I would expect a bit more in the production values (particularly the sound department — not digging the voices too much) if they were charging for this, but then if they were getting revenue, then I’m sure they’d spend on good voice talent, so it’s a fair trade-off. As is, definitely cannot complain. Only Valve would do this.

The game’s great fun; I know it’s developed from a mod, but I’m still surprised they didn’t charge for it. I’d have been happy to pay for it too to be honest.

Great game to kill a few hours with. Haven’t actually ventured online with it yet (due to being slightly good at the running-out-of-ammo-and-dying part) but when I do no doubt my school grades will start to plummet
