I suspect I'm going to regret saying this but this *could* be good. They should not have bothered explaining such an awfully contrived mechanic, frankly, but this means no godawful on foot sections in Driver any more!

It all looked a bit muddy and aliased and the handling over grass looked utterly undriveable though, so I dunno. Its a step in the right direction, at least.

That...

..is bat sh*t crazy.

I kinda like it but I can't help but feel that it'll take something out of the game. By having to charge the ability hopefully it'll restrict you somewhat as to how and when you choose to "shift" otherwise I can see it being too easy.

@Calneon - You have just proven that they need to stop trying to justify the mechanic in the game world. As otherwise you would just jump in the fleeing car and stop it. Or if you were being chased, jump into the chasing cars and crash them. And there is no possible way to justify not being able to do that via Coma-Vision as they have explained it.

This gimmick has a chance of making the game brilliant but knowing Driver history plus this gimmick chances are even greater that this game might be crap.

Plus, Ubisoft's DRM means an instant no buy for me.

They ruined Driver from Driver 2 by adding the horrendus and completely un-needed ability to get out of the car. If we wanted to get out the car, we would buy GTA. The clue is in the name...

This looks.. odd. Not in a good way, but then as a gameplay style it sounds like it might actually work.

Why shift between cop cars when you can shift into the car you're chasing and stop?

Now this is better, a little bit of (entirely insane) creativity. I like how he thinks it's real but it's actually a coma, they could end the game with the line "and then he woke up and it was all a dream", if they don't do that I'm going to be a little bit annoyed.

Ubisoft game so it's a no purchase from me, even if it's the best game ever. Their DRM is just one step too far and buying their games means you agree with their policies of treating paying customers with absolute contempt.

Is that another game / film etc. riffing off of Life on Mars?

Cool mechanic, utter nonsense explanation. By trying to justify the mechanic within the game itself, all they are doing is highlighting how nonsensical it is.

I also like how Tanner is somewhat homicidal from his coma - driving 18 wheelers into other cars sounds like a brilliant plan.
