10 new Mafia II screenshots
Mafia II is shaping up to be the cars & cops crime-em-up I’m most looking forward to this year. It’s got style, sophistication, and provided you don’t turn into Niko Bellic, the cops will try to pull you over and will even write you a ticket for running a red light. Excuse me, I’ve got to go salivate over these new screens.
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood trailer, date
The new Assassin’s Creed game, with its stabby multiplayer, has just got a release date – November 16th – and a big old trailer. Remember in the first game, that big temple full of assassins? In Brotherhood, you get your own. Trailer ho:
TRON: Evolution trailer
TRON: Evolution is due out in time for this year’s new film: Tron: Legacy. Is it a rushed job? Tim will find out for us later when he gets to see it in action at E3. It isn’t the game of the film, though – it’s the sequel to a game that is itself is a sequel to the original film. That’s better, trust me. Also, here is a pretty trailer setting the scene for the game. Frisbee death go.
FEAR 3 hands-on E3 impressions
I think I’m going to need a co-op partner to play FEAR 3 with me, for very selfish reasons. Played in single-player as The Point Man, it’s pretty much the same old paranormal shooter, slow motion power and all. In co-op however, you can assume control of the vastly more interesting Paxton Fettle – the first game’s villain, now a ghost – and run around stunning and possessing people while your partner does the shooting.
More impressions and a ton of screenshots below the fold.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit trailer
A rip-snorting new trailer for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit has been released, complete with supersonic supercars and face-melting chase sequences.
Lord of the Rings Online going to Isengard in 2011
The Hobbits are going to Isengard! I spoke to LOTRO’s Executive Producer Kate Paiz at E3, and he told me “We’re definitely planning to get players to Isengard next year”.
The XCOM E3 demonstration
I’ve never been so excited about being a government employee. Your job description as a member of XCOM, the secret arm of the FBI, includes dark science, shotgunning alien blobs, and saving pearl-wearing housewives from extraterrestrial death. XCOM is an “organization to fight the unknown,” 2K Marin studio director Martin Slater says, as we begin our demo of the game on the E3 show floor.
New Civilization 5 screenshots and E3 impressions
Firaxis just demo’d Civilization V to us, showing off some of the new features that make this a break from the previous games. The first: new win conditions that emphasise Social Policy and Government over war and diplomacy.
DC Universe Online trailer
The new DC Universe trailer happily proclaims that you’ll be able to battle side by side with some of the great DC legends, as well as play as what appears to be the Tron Guy’s far cooler twin, who can run up buildings and fire rainbow beams.
Valve’s E3 surprise is… oh. Portal 2 on PS3
Valve just announced that Portal 2, with Steamworks, will also be coming to PS3. That’s the massively conjectured “surprise” they’ve been teasing for the last few weeks. On the plus side, we did get to see an awesome demonstration of Portal 2 in action, and we’ll have our impressions of that up shortly. In the meantime, here’s why this surprise suddenly makes sense – plus a brief Portal 2 trailer from the conference.
New Fable III screenshots
These new screens tell us three things about Fable III: that guards are purple, men have beards, and women wear corsets.
Warhammer 40k MMO trailer and screens
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only a trailer, containing the very first moving images of Vigil’s upcoming Warhammer 40k MMO, Dark Millennium. Here in the present, there’s some really nice high-res screenshots too.
